I sometimes see good players disconnect if a battle doesnt go their way, and it seems they do it when it is pretty clear that a win definitly is not possible. So i was wondering, is there a benefit to doing that? You loose a lot of pilot rating points afaik…so there shouldnt be…or is there some kind of trick so that you dont loose ur rating? Or is it that this battle does not count to Win/loss if u disconnect before the end?
lost game = lost time
dc = lost rating pts
I would rather lose internet points aka rating than time, but idk maybe others care about stats
Never leave your comrades behind, it will have bad reputation, at least try to save it or kill some good pilot on the enemy side to shame them.
i only leave, if my client crashes or my internet cuts.
sometimes that might seem like i leave on purpose, sometimes it also seems incredibly stupid to leave at that time.
i usually fight until the bitter end, even if my team goes to hell, i will take some of em with me!!!

Same for me.
Coz they have no guts.
sometimes, they do that when they see who are the opponents…
if I see too strong opponents, then i cry
I guess someone are too nervous and then disconnect.
If a player leaves battle field , than he is not a good player.

This. He automatically becomes scrub-tier for DCing.
I disconnect when being spawn killed (in normal PVP, not it dreadfights or tournament). I consider this perfectly legitimate, since it is almost impossible to break a spawncamp and it is a waste of time spending ten minutes getting killed repeatedly.
Over Christmas I disconnected a couple of times due to scatter gun abusers. My FPS would drop to 5 every time it hit me, which is unplayable.
I have also disconnected in the past after constantly fighting against the same killsquad (me being solo). But then I usually quit the game at the same time, or change tiers. It’s not because I’m a coward that I did this, because I did do my best against them in many matches before, it’s just that knowing from the start the outcome of a match (defeat) just becomes repetitive and boring.
So yes sometimes I disconnect. But never before trying my hardest first, and only when the outcome is inevitable.

I never get spawncamped, just my team. If i’m getting spawncamped i grab a Mauler, jump back and give them some red explosive presents.
Ragequitting is always bad, but if you are about to loose that 8th game in a row trying to solve ms. Summer mission, you can really be frustrated.

Mauler OP
In my opinion, the only reason to EVER disconnect from a game are if your internet goes down, or if you have constant high ping and packet loss (to the point where you can’t play, whether due to a server issue, or your internet).
Otherwise, I don’t view it as acceptable to disconnect from a game. It is unfair for your teammates. So what if you weren’t going to win the game, at least stick it out and say you tried.
I think good pilots (at least veteran ones) disconnect because in the late stages of the game, money and synergy don’t mean much, so they don’t see a problem missing out on the rewards, but they should still stick it out and help.
Usually if I disconnect it’s because there’s no incentive to stay. I’d rather get another match than waste time on a hopeless cause.
I disconnected just a little while ago from a Tier 4/5 match.
I got tired of dying repeatedly while watching my teammates throw themselves into the enemy ranks one at a time and feed their score.
I was playing to earn credits and vouchers for upgrades, in the hope of maybe building a very unusual Mjolnir. But with the sheer mass of demoralizing grind facing me with this goal, something as simple as several bad matches in a row can be enough to make anyone finally throw up their hands and say “Screw it! I am wasting my time. Keep your **** ship.” And then disconnect to play a more enjoyable game.
Or when the mm continuously adds me against the same squad as compensation for the other squad… And then it’s all 3 beacons after 30s and a 3 minute match…

This. I’d rather alt-tab and do things rather than frustrate myself on a hopelessly uphill battle.
Good and experienced players in 90% of cases, recognize, if MM is giving them a fair chance.
If you see, that you get a your side with no healer and people with 1 ship in their lineup, while enemy has 3 of them with all 3-4 ships, you can pretty much know, that the match is going to be suck and it usually does.
I try my best, if I don’t have any chance, I just wait, until it’s over.
Teams with 3+ LRF spawnsitters in beacon matches, players that bring ships a full tier (or two tiers!) lower into the match, teams that feed indefinitely leading to spawncamping, Capture the Beacons matches where _the entire rest of _your team brings one ship… there are many reasons to concede a battle. It’s important to know when to concede and when to keep fighting.
Do keep in mind that most other competitive games respect the concession, and in some cases encourage it when it’s reached a certain point of obviousness. We should respect this, especially when this game can so easily frustrate its playerbase.
Habitual and disrespectful disconnects are not defensible. People have been kicked from Arch for this, especially if they harassed their opponents over PM afterwards.
