What's with rocket launchers doing 100,000+ damage per shot?

Doesn’t matter if you stack 3 thermal insulators on shields and hull and have a +100% PvE multiplier to durability, if that rocket explodes within 500m of you, you’re toast.

If you’re in a frigate without 5km+ range, you just uhhh… sit back and hope for the best. Smaller ships can dance around and hope they aren’t lagging in the slightest.

Destroyers can also build for long range and be ok, but even they get cut down in typically 3 hits.

The problem is mostly the damage scaling, it’s unexpected when other weapons are doing high yet manageable damage, but then you got these doing 6-digit damage numbers at levels 15+

For Fire Support and Defence Contract destroyer is an optimal ship due to limited, but long range of those rockets. Just stay out of reach. Strafing frigate can dodge them as well (just tried that with Archdragon - you can time it so the rockets will always miss you). You are not supposed to be tanking those rockets at all - not to mention that frigates have mallus against exploding projectiles. On higher levels (IIRC 100k damage against destroyer is around lvl 21) higher defence helps - destroyer with lvl 150 defence will have ~30 millions HP.

Still, it’s ~7k% more HP that you can’t heal in any way. You could get ~1,8k% more damage instead and just more range. More dmg = other enemies will deal less damage because you will destroy them faster.

Anyway, getting to ~150lvl would take ages and ~20lvl missions aren’t worth it anyway, the reward is too low compared to how quickly difficulty increases at levels above 10-14.

Turret damage scaling in PvE has been absolutely broken ever since the PvE “rework” since regular turrets at around level 20 already deal 1-2k a shot in missions like Captured Dreadnought or Processing Rig.

Scaling in general has been absolutely f**ked since the rework actually… enemy ships scale obnoxiously high, their damage even moreso and the Octopus Volley should have been outright removed. Oh and allied structures that you  have to defend else you fail the mission don’t scale well at all. Three Octopus vollies in processing rig will kill a transport at around level 13. So good luck having fun in PvE.

FTFY.

Processing Rig @20 is actually easy. Attack/Def buffs are calculated to reach ~30 diff level based mostly on firepower, ~32 maybe 35 with some cunning tactics (roughly every 5 diff levels enemy damage and health doubles, when for player it’s every 35 levels), however for practical reasons the sweet spot for loot/(time and effort) is around 25.
