What's OP, and what isn't?

I’ve been hearing that the EM Scattering Field for LRFs makes them OP because nothing attacks them. And micro-warp grants an instant-escape from just about anything.

that is the intent. also, while preparing to warp, you are vulnerable;

Asynchronous Shield Projextor -> UP, needs a high buff, I would duplicate the shield regen it provides.

Improved Missile Pylons -> UP, I would move it to somewhere else like CPU, or make the cooldown reduction also affect cartridge cooldowns.

Static Barrier -> UP, there’s no reason to pick this Engineer module over any other, it melts in higher levels and as said, it’s a waste of a slot.

White Noise Jammer -> OP, 17 seconds of not being able to lock on is xxxx, specially if the module has 50 second cooldown. 

IR Pulsar -> OP, for the same reason as WNJ, but with x2 the duration and x2 cooldown.

Combat Reboot -> OP, 2.6 seconds may feel low, but any good pilot using this module properly is just an immortal killing machine, specially in late game, Gunships are way too hard to kill compared to other classes, even when the game states that they’re weaker. Also it has a 37 second cooldown on Pirahna and Lightbringer, wich is too low.

Secondly the Recon only have 2 weapon slots while the LRF have 6 of them.

 

Just to show you : Mk4 EM Scattering Field Cooldown T5 = 57 Secondes / Mk 4 EM Scattering Field Duration = 72 Secondes.

WJR: those 17 (bit above 14 for my t3) often do not really change much, often still not enough to get the ecm down, so imho wjr is just fine…

but the IR is much more annoying.

Gunships are OP! They are fast, tough and powerful at the same time…

That is so true. Even the cloak falls off, and Hunters shoot you to shreds (players still won’t really see you).

i think because aliens are too strong it forces people to use em scattering field. but then again if they weren’t, people will still use it out of ease

Yeah. Either all mobs in Invasion need an extreme nerf and EM Field gets a nerf, or leave it as is. There’s not really anywhere to go with this.

People use EM field because it brings the NPCs to them so they don’t even have to move to farm. Plus it protects them from having hostile players lock on to them. Sitting around cloaked is what LRF players do in PVP as well after all.

The aliens are fine. A T5 guard can solo a pack of biomorphs with ease. Add a hunter and you typically want some help, but the more content you make solo-able the less content there is for everyone. The aliens team up, you should be forced to as well.

With a Good Inquisitor S you can solo a pack of Biomorph with an Hunter in it :slight_smile:

Yeah I’ve done it in an Mk.2 fit (Mk.4 actives) T-Rex Mk.II, too, it’s certainly possible. But it required some work and put everything on cooldown so that’s why I think you’ll typically want some help to play it safe.

The problem with focusing on teams when balancing difficulty is that Invasion doesn’t support teams well, if at all.

In PvP, PvE and SQ you just turn up and you have teammates. Here, every other player is at best a neutral party, and at worst out for your blood.

Either more of this mode needs to be balanced for solo play (ie: everything bar the Frontier), or they need to make it a lot easier to form groups on the fly.

This part I’ll agree with. We should probably have an /lfg flag and maybe even something like in PlanetSide 2 where you can either form or join publc squads at the push of a single button. I suppose all /lfg players in a zone could get offered to be grouped up automatically upon jumping in/setting the flag.

I still think my solution is best - in faction space, all members of a faction are one group. In the Frontier, every Wing / Squad / Corp is one group, and solo pilots are on their own! This would work best if it were easier to get to other faction’s space, as well as being a natural follow-on from existing mechanics such as SQ.

Your solution is terrible though. It would turn this into EVE Online with gate camps “protecting” each faction’s space and nobody getting anywhere (need warp bubbles on the gates to catch those recons!). Forget farming your 3 factions worth of monocrystals each day.

But that happens already. I’ve done it. I was in a WPK wing and we opened up on everyone who came into our Sector. Even when I’m alone I see groups of pilots loitering near gates, and solo you’re screwed if they light up on you.

The only time I saw you guys do it was in empire space opening up on other empire pilots. In your suggestion all of empire would open up on whoever wants to come in from other factions because they would be red to them.
