Just curious what tier everyone finds the most amusing so far. I just got T2 ships last night and I’m having a blast, but I still love the simplicity of T1 brawls in my Swift.
If ya vote, please explain your choice. Inquiring newb minds want to know.
T2 ATM. Module options open up considerably compared to T1 and healing is not as ridiculous as T3 and above.
T2 for me. Players are all sorts - experienced and new ones, there’s plenty of teamwork *and* plenty of daft decisions that sway the match, there is a lot of opportunity to claw back victory by chance or will from seemingly certain defeat, all activity is, well, *sane* and not just a random clusterduck or wtf-is-even-going-on that happens in T3, there’s plenty of very close matches that coudl have been anyone’s game, there’s no obviously-OP-kits (like the spam of healing frigates in T3…), and best of all, you earn decent amount of money from pvp without spending all of the profit on repairs & rearming.
T1’s problem - not enough players who know how to play well; would be unfair to play against them with several days of experience;
T3’s problem - too expensive to play (little to no profit, or even a loss); dominated by sheer number of healing frigates on each side; more frigs → that side wins. Not enough active tactics → It is either “sit behind obstacles, take potshots like in a cover shooter” or “everything’s a massive furball with so many effects nobody can tell wtf is going on, oh and someone just used a nuke so everybody died anyway”… I have yet to see /partake in a T3 match that’s *sane*.
T4’s problem - way too expensive to get to… And to even play in.
Tier 2 is my preferred for a couple of reasons. For one there are a lot of people who play it, and takes a matter of seconds to find a different game. I can be pretty impatient ^^. I also feel that T2 is better for all in all general good fun. Nobody there is anal about constantly winning, and thus has a more laid back environment. It’s also a great place to find newer players with potential and grab them before other corps do. Finally, I just absolutely love my Machete mine layer, Things go boom, many times.
Also, I completely agree with X2Eliah, T3 is just too expensive to play around with compared to T2, same goes for T4. It is far cheaper to experiment with different things in T2.

I bought the mid level Steam DLC and got a T3 ship and after playing several T3 matches, I concur completely. There’s just too much stuff going on graphically (buffs, etc). Sometimes I lose track of my aiming reticle.
Thanks for the great replies. It’s definitely given a newb like me insight into the game I otherwise wouldn’t have had.
T2 because atm it seems the most balanced, I would say T3 but healing frigates need to be balanced first. I literally was flying my engineer yesterday and had 2 interceptors and a fighter all with pulse lasers just following my around doing nothing more than negating my regen… It was actually frustrating. I would rather of died instead of hearing pzz zzpp zzz and watching red lines flash right in front of my face for 5 whole minutes… >.<
Aside from that though once you get used to t3 it is alot of fun.
t3 brings in the most rewards in my opinion.
Tier 0.5
Mostly because it’s before we get broken engi frigates.
I have to agree that Tier II is the most fun and balanced by far. Tier I is just boring and all the ships kind of suck. Tier III is too chaotic and everything takes forever to kill unless you’ve got 3-4 guys focusing on every target. Tier IV…well, no one plays Tier IV because every time I queue for it I end up waiting 7 minutes for a 3v3 game with 4 bots, AND it suffers from all the same problems as Tier III.
Tier II though, it’s right in that sweet spot. Just enough customization to make things interesting, but not enough to break things. Just enough action not to be dull, but not so much action that everything devolves into a chaotic clusterfuck. Just enough experienced players that you have to stay awake and be on your game, but with enough inexperienced players to have relaxed moments and a spattering of easy kills to pad your score.
T2 was fun when I was at those ranks. The ships felt plenty fast for the pace of play I was skilled for, and the games where enjoyable. Moving on to T3 was hard at first - the ships and modules I was using/facing were very different, and the pace of play was way faster than I was used to. Then I got used to fighting with and against ships that can hit the 700m/s max speed, looking for nukes, etc.
Ever since then, when I go down to T2 to play with lower-rank corp mates it hasn’t been as fun as it was when I was in that rank group. The ships feel like they’re flying through pea soup and the gameplay feels dumbed down and simplified. My t3 fighters about as fast as my t2 interceptors (445 vs 463) and my t3 interceptors are all around the speed cap… its a big difference.
My point being; its not so much what tier is “better”, there are pros and cons for everything, its about where you feel the most comfortable.
What Maidex just said. T2 was fun when i used to play it, but when you are used to T3, then T2 feels just wrong.

+1
this so much .
In T3 you got the possibillity to build your ships as you want to , build in weakness to push strenght in smth else etc.
T2 is all the same … no diversity … nvm.
Also the profit in T3 is so much higher as long as you dont totally do xxxx. Dont understand people saying T3 to less money gain , rly . Even when i loose ill get my 90k-110k out .
Random trivia: I complained about the low profit/match issue due to repair costs, got advised to “do stuff, but die less”. Advice coming from a dude flying a healer frigate, obviously.
… Screw T3 and screw this bs balancing.
Also, just to give hard numbers:
Had 4 matches in T3. Lost two, won two. Of the two I lost, placed somewhere in top 5 in one and near the bottom 5 in another. Of the two I won, placed 2nd in one and somewhere in middle in another. I don’t have a license nor any extra bonusreward stuff. The range of rewards i got was between 60k and 96k. The cost of repairs+ammo was between 40k to 50k. That leaves 20k profit at worst and 56k profit at best. Split the difference, average profit per match = about 38k.
I get more, faster, with less swearing, and more reliably, in T2 fights. And I have more fun during those too.
t4 is so much fun that i stoped playing.
Actually… I am interested in one thing, now.
What ships correlate to what amount of enjoyment of the tiers.
So - in the tiers you like/dislike, what ships do/did you fly?
(frex me: T2->like->tackler/command/engineer; T3->dislike->command,ECM.)
Who knows, maybe the only peple actually liking T3 end up being just the interceptor junkies whizzing about and engineer frigates outhealing everything…

T3 like: Guard/Command/Gunship/Interceptor , dislike: Tackler/LongRange ,
Engi is a so so class at the moment , cause of time-stretching when too much of them hanging around.
T2 like: Gunship/Intercept/Engineer , dislike: the rest
This are my personal preferences , other pilots other likes/dislikes
PS: To ask for others preferences , while brandmarking some classes :“Who knows, maybe the only people actually liking T3 end up being just the interceptor junkies whizzing about and engineer frigates outhealing everything…”, sounds like
“Give me the confirmation, so i can settle back and cry out : HAH, i knew it , you are the reason i cant fly T3”
That’s how it sounds like because that is exactly what it is
T3 despite of the engi frigs issues. Flying the Wolf-M near the speedcap feels to good to go back to T2.
T3 because while T2 doesn’t have the lolengineers, ships are just too slow for my tastes in T2.
T4 is dead, and should be left dead for number of very good reasons, such as overly tanky everything due to module/armor/shield power creep in relation to weapon damage output combined with lolengineers.
