For me its looks smth like this:
T2 death = ~10k money
T3 death = ~16k money
Even so T3 imo is a bit more rewarding including repair expenses.
Starter tier ships are always bad, avoid them.

I’ll grab an Elf next for soloing Contracts in T3.

t3 is better unlles you die more then 3 times per match. Uncheck auto repair so when you die a lot use insurance for the huge bills.
I run T3 scenarios for money. At least 320k every run. So that’s > 1 million credits an hour.

With a good pre made team you can farm almost 1.5-2mil an hour. Shipyard is 10 minute-able and sabotage while tricky is just a bit longer, unless you skip it then yea, easy.
Shipyard is ~6 minutes with a proper group
And yields 390-395k every run for me basicly.

Fair enough, my ships are all rank 10, so that would make a difference.
Assuming you don’t die, T3 is the best for credits. T2 is better if you die a lot, as repair costs of a few deaths can cost a lot in T3.

I’m a long way off T3 now I tooled up my T2 gear but what is the best for farming Shipyard when I get there?

Still making 120k in tier 2 scenarios and 330k+ in tier 3/4 scenarios.
Plus 100k in tier 2 pvp and about that in tier 3/4 pvp.

I’m planning to buy a T3 Federation Frigate and equipping it with team shield and hull repair and pulsars…sound about right?
That’s a great setup for PvE. It’s what I fly.
I’d also suggest the 5x missile pack for your large missile rack (the boss can only shoot down one), though the mines are good against adds. And pack a weapon with a reasonable range (heavy lasers, heavy plasma, etc.) so you can fight from cover.

T3 PVE 2 mil an hour, for PVP 1 mil an hour.
T2 PVE 1 mil an hour, for PVP varies, tends to be around 750k.
Of course this means minimal amount of deaths and eff of at least 1000, and for PVE you need a team who knows to finish a scenario in 8 minutes tops.
