What is Happening to SC? Letter to DEVS

To whom it may concern,

I would like to express gratitude toward the developers of the game who continue to exert effort to try and improve our experience. I would also like express my anger and dissatisfaction with the direction of the game, especially in light of the most recent patch, 0.7.12.

I have been playing Star Conflict for months now, and although I have not been as active as I would like to have been as part of the beta community, I followed the discussions and observed the developer’s every move. Ever since patch 0.7.10, the player base on SC has been steadily declining, and frankly for justified reasons: The game is becoming more and more unbalanced and pay2win.

This first became evident when it was made that the only way to gain loyalty was through contracts, which effectively made it extremely difficult to advance and much harder to reach the “blue” modules and weapons. The interceptor speed cap was justified, so that will not be discussed. What the loyalty change did was make it so that if you wanted to advance you would have to either invest colossal amounts of time into the game or buy a license, both of which are not appealing. After many players expressed anger on the forum, the loyalty “nerf” was removed. We hoped that the developers had learned a lesson that the players are here to play for fun not to grind or pay tons of money. We understand that you need money to keep the project alive, but if you give us legible reasons to pay you, such as developing an amazing game, I promise you people will pay to play.

The last patch has enraged many, including myself. Basically what this patch has done is destroy the looting system, make T4 ship prices absolutely prices absolutely ridiculous, and ruin matchmaking, which has made the game no longer enjoyable. First, I don’t understand why on earth you would reduce loot rewards so much, we were anticipating a new, improved looting system, not something worthless. We would not be complaining so much if the prices had not been raised so much. You say in the patch notes that ships will now come fully equipped, and hence prices have been raised accordingly. I took a look at the modules you provide, and calculated that they are worth about 200k-300k, and they are not even good builds. For a crappy selection of MK1 modules, you raise the price by 3 million? This defies all laws of mathematics and economics. I’m sorry but I would rather pay 6M for a naked ship and fit it how I want than pay 9M for a fitted ship that I will end up removing all that has been including with it. Basically, you either need to get a license or grind. I doubt whether or not I will continue to play this if it becomes that way.

The most ridiculous change was the remaking of matchmaking. I remember a poll regarding this, and what you implemented was not the most popular option. Now, T2s are being placed with T4s, it is an ABSOLUTE mess. Skill doesn’t do **** when you are in a T2 trying to take down a T4 or even a T3. You can barely make a dent in a higher tier ship, and he can easily turn around and shred you. No matter what ship I put on, I place into T4, and there my T3s are just not cutting it, so I end up not making a profit, and getting almost nothing from loot. And considering I need a few million more to buy a T4, im forced to farm pve, which gets boring quick, so I just go play some other game.  There is really barely any logic behind this patch.

Star Conflict has the potential to knock EVE out of the way, please fix this fast, stop releasing worthless patches, don’t make this pay2win, and bring on the BIG patches. These little patches are almost worthless. Don’t make this another Black Prophecy, we beg you.

                                                                                                -[EVO]Intricate

I post the following on my behalf as a player, and of no affiliation to any volunteer work i am doing for star conflict ( as inn reporter etc)

This post was originally posted on our clan website, and i directed it here

I cant say that i feel the same as many people in the game, but there are things i know that others do not that play a major effect in this.

I do however agree with this Original poster, That the game appears to be heading in the direct of “pay to win” and i am adversely against this.

However, I will remain patient to see the outcome.  I totally agree that this game can blow eve out of the water, If it had an open universe similar to it.

I feel that once this is released, in time it will be resolved, but this is dependent upon the whole ship buying, fitting process.

My view is that we should pool the community and see what is upsetting everyone, and go from there.

I have noticed from my clan a lot of complains are happening because of the recent matching change. Honestly, We really just need to delete all of the tiers.

If we do this, i feel people will be extremely happy.

Out side of that, the only other major change i see that needs to take place is that the battles should still grant reputation, maybe a static amount, 1000 per loss, 2000 per win.

Other then that i agree mostly with all other changes made in the last month for various reasons

I agree 100 percent with you. I’m trying to play through this patch to see if it’s playable but I am having a hard time justifying the changes. Like you stated, we were asked if we wanted to mix the ship levels in games and the community answered that NO we didn’t want to play like this. There is no reason I should be playing against T4 ships when I am playing a T2 Battle. I bought all the DLC content when the game first came out because it was a great game and I wanted to start a Corporation. I spent around 130 dollars because the game was fun. Now the game is turning into a blatant cash grab with grinding. I’m sorry but I wasn’t aware that this game was going to go in that direction or I never would have wasted my money. When the game was released on STEAM the Developers were falling all over themselves with joy because they made a ton of money. The reason you made all that money was becasue you had a good game. You have now gone in the wrong direction. I’m still playing but much less than I was and I now could care less about Loyalty or anything else. I’m not going to spend one more dime on this game until the Developers come to their senses. If you don’t come to your senses then I’ll just move along and never purchase another game made by you.

P.S Intricate.Don’t worry about this game overtaking EVE, when Star Citizen is released it will be the greatest space game ever made. We were hoping that Star Conflict would hold us over until it’s release.

I was about to dump 200 dollars into this game, but after 0.7.11 I hung on to my money.

Today, me and my friend started up this game after not playing for a few weeks, and I made a forum account just to express our anger with the game. If some serious changes are not made then neither me nor my friend are ever going to play this game again. Upping the cost of ships has turned us away from the game, we did not feel inclined to play even more.

I also sign all the previously discussed. After that horrible Matchmaking the other day where i ended in a Tier 2 team against mixed T4 T3 i took my first break from thus game. Looking bavk i feel punished with that loyalty patch furst for having a Job and not beeing arroud to play the game. Kind of feels wrong to come Home from Work and not have a nice little shootout with you friends cause they are all pretty rouhhed up about changes forced upon them. On this note. Despite my gratitude and high regard towrds Error i am very dissapointed about the try to take us players for Stupid. 47 COMBINED vote is STILL not a majority of 53 percent. Further more i got the Impression that thisnVote was rigged to begin with. I was thinkingnthe same thing when reading it basicly 3 Vote Options for a change somehow and One for keeping what we had. sure it was frustrating but it did encourage teamplay. While now this Game has instantly regressed to a Hardware Battle. If i hear skill as justification for getting matched against T3 Shipsni bluntly ask back how i am supposed to catch some Interceptors of that level with my speed disadvantage mounting to easy toncompansate 200 m/s delta v… Well not to mention the little not mentioned nerfs on ships. Just cause no one instantly complains doesnt mean people do not notice them. All in all i am very dissapointednwith the current trajectory of this project . Whileni respect that developers can do testruns of changes and all in all should haventhe greatest freedom of doing so, they never should try to sell me that as my own decision… that all said i shall continue my current hiatus from this game. I additionally advise you to update that stam page with some clear announfement that this game is still in beta… Not that anyone could sue for return of funds for a contract under false pretenses.

Respectfully.

Signed.  I get that people were camping in T2 because T3 wasn’t very balanced, but nerfing the looting while combining the tiers in matchmaking to force people to buy up into the tiers smacks of pay to win.

Gameplay is awesome, yet you’re going to hurt your casual player base if you make the grind seem so steep in order to be competitive.

It’s kind of funny, they wanted people to fly their t3’s more. They mixed the tiers. Now its even because nobody plays any tiers

Bump. Awful devs still not listening.

Keep bumping guys, and maybe an English worded person from Gaijin will *actually* read this someday.

The new matmaker is horrible, he put you in t4 fights just because you is good, and put you in t5 fight(?) when you have t4 ship

This should be on the suggestion forum.

If you’re trying to gather community data to post on the suggestion forum, that’s fine. but really something like this doesn’t belong here. It likely won’t get the attention it deserves.

I’ve been part of many, many, many betas. and often times, even very hot discussions on the general board, are ignored by developers because that isn’t the place for them. you might end up with 2 or 3 threads about flipping tables, another about bacon, or any other random concoction of topics and discussions that may or may not pertain to the game.

So simply put there’s little point in this being here. put it on the suggestion forum. if you want to garner support, put a link to your post on the suggestion forum here and request that people support it.

You…I like you…

Onisake has a point. Let’s start posting our ‘suggestion’ in the suggestion sections. If gets any dev attention whatsoever it’ll be better than the responses we get here in general.

THIS. is the common sense people seem to not have.

The past two patches have done a lot to sabotage this game.  Everyone I’ve talked to is pissed off with what’s happening and I can hardly blame them.  I am a premium player, I have all the Steam DLCs, and even as a paying, premium player the grind is just absurd now.  The addition of absolutely garbage modules to ships that then jack the price through the roof is bad, the reputation grind is intolerable, and the new price for swapping implants is beyond stupid.  I have exactly three weeks left on my premium time.  If changes do not happen by the time that premium time runs out then I will not renew it and will not spend another cent on Star Conflict.

It’s a god damn shame too because this game is incredibly fun to play and I’d hate to see it kill itself due to devs that don’t understand that they’re destroying their own hard work.

If the game is incredibly fun to play, why not just play it? I have some T3/T4 ships but I am enjoying playing T2 matches. In fact, I spend most of my time flying T2.

I don’t need any advancement or reputation to do that. Just log in and start flying virtual spaceship.

None of this other stuff stops us from doing that.
