Well lets look at it on both sides of the coin.
With modules we have a more of a focus on weapons and external factors killing enemys.
With OUT modules, players have to team up, focus fire, and really be more team oriented.

voted detonation - no holds barred. all modules. all weapons
[edit]
IF you want a moderately competitive environment - i suggest Mk.Is ONLY

Agreed, but I prefer Team Deathmatch.

In all seriousness, frigates are not for carrying bombs. They are for absorbing damage.

Looking past the utter hilariousness of it, which is what drove most people (myself included) to pick detonation… Just to really throw a wrench in the gameplay and force people to adapt.
I suspect though it would actually pan out much worse than anticipated with the bomb being held too much… But who knows, maybe they will man up and try to plant it.
Planting the bomb in a frig… just gives you this feeling of utter awesomeness… and that warm fluffy feeling of reaching out your window and giving the bird to the entire enemy team.
I still have fond memories of flying my Guard 8km to the beacon for the game winning plant. Epic to say the least with half their team trying to kill me
I actually have no preference between my tackler and my guard frigate when it comes to detonation. My Crus Q has actually planted more bombs than my Fox-M, just because I was in the right place at the right time.
Edit: (misclicked and posted too early)
I’m all in favour of detonation because I feel that it can actually work very well. It’ll be hilarious but absolutely playable at the same time.
What about the team balances? I think that you should allow 2 slots so that players can choose between engineer/guard/LRF; if there’s only one slot there’s the chance that a team may randomly have all guard frigates or something. And what happens when it comes down to only a few ships? It would almost be a rock paper scissors game depending on who has what.
Feedback: Stop with the status update spam. It’s annoying.
Please unless it has something that has to do with the “Survivor Event” post. If not start a new thread, thank you.
I think allow no active mods to keep the battle from ending up in a stalemate with absolutely no killing going on…i.e. like how some T3 combat recon matches end up. Without the regen aura’s, remote shield gens, pulsars, and missile shields people will probably be less inclined to bunch up.
All passive, ship mods, weapons, and missiles are free game though.
Make it a beacon hunt game in my honest opinion. The moving objectives will keep teams stretched out for the most part and increase gameplay tempo. Detonation on the right maps could be a blast though…others not so much.

It does come down to randomization because you just pick your ship and join the lobby. You have really no clue who is on your team or what ships they have until the lobby is open. If all go guard on your team well good luck but the chances of that are slim. Just like all other “Survivor Events” you only got to pick one ship. This should be really interesting to watch.

Yeah, EMP bombs are gonna dynamically change the game as time goes on.
Frigates are slow so its all about team work.
(wait, couldnt 3 engineers, chain there warp gates and totally win in like 3 minutes? Thats what I would do.)

Didn’t ships drop bomb when going into warpgate?

No, you can get to the bomb first, and huddle around it
and fill the entire volume surrounding the emp spawn with mines. all legit imho.
minefields are NOT a problem, your a frigate, they give a nice snap, crackle, pop, and you keep going through!
