i have them on YX* for left right and CV for up/down, close to AWSD
it is usable in any ship, but i would not overdo using only the turn keys, instead add it to your already used movement, you can e.g. loop up and still adjust with mouse/strafe movement. generally use it for sharper turns and loops (yodaloops in vernier ceptors), or in cruise, for 180s turns (while you can actually look around)
I use t/g for up/down, and don’t have yaw buttons bound. I mostly use them to dodge, or keep up adaptives while firing. I find it too difficult to use them to maneuver.
Also, something very silly happens when you pitch and roll at the same time…
Presuming you have forward speed, you basically corkscrew.
Almost uncontrollably! It makes hitting you almost impossible, but also makes hitting other people and controlling where you go almost impossible as well.
Well being a difficult target to hit also makes you an unattractive target. I’ve abused that fact to either stall persistent attackers to take up the aggro or either just frustrate attackers away and then pounce once they move their attention away.
Under the idea that you really want two directions most. In my case up and right…
Also, just to verify.
This does take you out of firing arc?
I always assumed it did.
If you want to fire while holding the turn buttons, a few of your guns won’t be able to shoot, yes. It’s not a huge problem unless you need the extra damage, or you’re using coil mortar (and turning for some reason).
