We’ve devided this tournament into 2 zones. Mainly to give our American friends comfortable start time. And the question - how do you think… what is the best time to start the tournament on Saturday?
I’m asking, cuz I’ve never been in America and don’t know well the perfect time for all zones. And I need you help :001j:
We appreciate the consideration. I’m going to speak for everyone in North America and say that we don’t anticipate flying solely against North American teams.
As I see we have 2 zones - EU + Russia and NA + countries with the same time zones , right?
I believe that works. Here is why:
With regards to joining the EU and NA tournaments, and letting the RU have their own, I don’t believe it makes sense geographically. I believe that the so-called “NA tournament” should actually include teams which are mostly from North and South America, as well as any teams from Australia that want to participate. I’m not sure what kind of presence Star Conflict has in Australia, but I believe they should be included in the “NA/SA tourney” as well, since it would be easier for them to find a squad if the majority of the teams in the tourney are English-speaking.
At present, the start times for the tournaments are not listed on the main tournament page: [http://forum.star-conflict.com/index.php?/topic/21695-tournament-best-in-space/](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/21695-tournament-best-in-space/)
It is my belief that our tournament should start at 17:00 Pacific Standard Time (UTC -8). Starting at 5 P.M on a Saturday seems ideal. It would be at 8 P.M. for the East Coast as well (Thanks, JP). If we can include the Australians in our tournament (8 A.M. for them) I believe the tournament would be fulfilling and exciting for every player.
EU start times were originally 15:00 Moscow time (3 P.M.) and I think that would work for all of Russia and Europe. By trying to encompass both EU and NA/SA teams in one tournament, we would be pushing the Australian players out, since any time that would work for both American Continents as well as Europe would almost certainly not work for Australian players.
EvilTactician did raise a good point. Most people are probably going to assume that The NASA Corporation [NASA] is going to sweep the NA/SA tourney. There is no rule barring Russian and European players from joining the NA/SA tournament. However, they will need to decide if they want to conform to our start times. I don’t believe this is logical, since if North American, European, Russian, South American, and Australian teams get into a tournament together, one team will almost always be hampered by lag when intercontinental matches take place. Also, I don’t believe [NASA] is just going to swoop in and steal the prize. I believe that the team which practices the hardest in the weeks leading up to the tournament will come away with the gold. Nothing is certain.
