Tier 3 ship controls not like T2?

Not sure about others, but I’ve tried everything on the option menu, and nothing works.
When i get into expert pilot mode the ship stays centered albeit the whole screen is moving left and right so problem is still there.

Besides O/D is just bit faster then the interceptor’s top speed on afterburners, and the interceptors are much more maneuverable in terms of changing angles of rotation, and it’s way more stabilized then O/D (though still bobs a tiny bit).

I tried switching my control mode to expert and the end result was my fighter was ridiculously sluggish.  I have the 30% rotation speed implant.  The handling makes it feel like I’m flying a frigate now… this is utterly ridiculous. I don’t know if they nerfed the rotation speed or did something else to make the fighter controls so unresponsive, but it seems like this game went from beautiful dogfighting to awful xxxx controls overnight.

Rotation speed is the same in either mode. it’s just that the camera moves with your aim in basic mode, which makes it easier to shoot to your sides/rear.

I’m used to expert mode though, as I often zoom along the surface of stuff for cover and shaking off attackers. It’s harder to do “Deathstar trench runs” in Basic mode.

The basic mode is probably more useful for people that primarily fly frigates as it allows them to shoot at faster ships better (albeit with less turrets, which is still better than none if your turn rate doesn’t let you

When I get around to getting a good joystick I might try expert mode, but atm the game’s much better in standard mode with mouse and keyboard.

I have (finally) got myself a Kastor and I’m pleased to report that this thing is so embarrassingly slow it is not affected by this glitch

As for SilentFear’s issue with it happening even when not in overdrive with minimal ping, I got nothing.  Based on my overdrive theory: have you got a lot of speed mods on?

Thats the kicker i have minus speed mod on XD. So i dunno what the hell is going on. Last night i went for few games on my Prometheus Fire and it was nightmare. The only way to get all my turret nods to shoot at the same target was - if the target is full speed ahead or if we are standing near a becon.

Also i had one game where for some reson my ping skyrocketed to 144 and it become absolutly usless to even try to fight anything then a frig ship. So after five games i just logout.

So yeah i hope something was introduced whit one of the paches ( a bug or something ) and it can be fixed - if not i’m done whit the empire fighters and may move to interceptor of some kind.

Ok, after some sciencetm I’ve discovered the following.

  1. This effect seems to get drastically worse with the synergy of your ship, further supporting the theory that the faster you can go, the more messed up it becomes.

  1. I have NOT been having problems at all whilst the ship is not in overdrive, but I do notice that it alternates at different times of the day, worsening at peak internet usage times which would appear to support the latency theory.  It also seems to be demonstrably better on the solo practice battle.  It’s still possible to do, but you have to REALLY work at it.

  1. Interceptors that can already move that quickly without the need of an overdrive do not appear to suffer from this. Which is the most curious part…

Originally, I thought it was the omission of an angular acceleration, the Phobos Aura, Prometheus Fire and the Kastor all have quoted acceleration rates of approximately 11 (amusingly my Phobos has the worst of the 3).  As best I can tell this is for LINEAR acceleration, no-where is ship’s angular acceleration noted, which I feared may have been the problem.  If Overdrive doesn’t modify the ships angular acceleration (because it’s a constant rather than a variable) then of course this is going to happen.  Anyone who knows anything about unstable airframes will tell you that you change one control variable, you have to change all of them to suit.  This is a similar issue.  However, this is essentially disproved by both the Solo battle issue and the fact that rotation seems to be oddly binary and appears to have almost infinite acceleration, leaving me wondering whether perhaps the angular acceleration IS being increased, by far FAR too much, which could also cause the problem…

In conclusion: it’s either lag or intentional.  It is odd how interceptors, that can achieve this ludicrous speed and agility normally are unaffected by it, but if it’s intentional then this makes perfect sense.  I do hope we get a fix or at least confirmation that it’s supposed to be like this, I managed to force my Prometheus into a situation where, despite my pointing cursor towards the same direction the entire time, it could not, would not go that way at all, content to whirl around in the same 20 metres of space.  If this IS a bug then it’s probably something deep to do with the way the application interprets the inputs, which will probably involve a lot of work to fix.

This has got me killed more times than those troglodytes in Jericho frigates, although sometimes they get to take credit for the kill
