Today I visited the website expecting news about new containers in the store or something else.
Instead, I got welcomed with a closure announcement.
This game might have flaws but I sincerely enjoyed playing it. I really liked the ships design, awaiting new battle pass guessing what the next ship would be.
I enjoyed grinding for resources or insignia level while listening to music or podcast.
I enjoyed a bit the pvp mode.
I enjoyed trying newly built ships.
I had no problem spending money for the battle passes, I felt like the extra cosmetics were worth it(and the current BP system is free to play friendly)
Despite the game low players count, it never took me long(1 minute maximum) before getting into a game.
This game was part of my daily life. Logging in, turning on podcast or music, and just completing whatever I had planned.
Well, guess I’ll have to find another game …Right now I started playing Crossout a few days ago. But I’m afraid this game will suffer the same fate sooner or later …
all games will end in this fate or civilization will end before it gets canned.
Yes, unfortunately every F2P will have this fate (although there are some f2p that resist, such as Combat Arms for example, this game is still alive despite being more than 14 years old).
Fortunately the downloaded solo games will remain playable no matter what.
Keep the game at all costs. Sell it, allow private servers, whatever - It is good. There’s literally achievements and lifetime invested in this. It is often a bad idea to ditch projects where the future momentarily “looks bleak”, but it can always make a resurgence, especially with user input. SC was long enough barricaded as closed source, so why not give it a different experimental spin without letting it vanish?
I was excited for new missions and maps, and always thought would’ve been fun if the game was open for user content like putting modded/custom maps into the rotation. Targem could have added a “level creator” tool with various skyboxes, asteroids, station pieces and the usual stuff like beacons or bomb stations where new maps could have been safely added to the game… etc… to continue some variety and sandboxing.
This is the first time i felt hit in the gut about a game’s end. It was on my screen almost daily, whether just idling in the hangar or just inbetween work. It is a very unique game with a lot of work that does not deserve to die, regardless of what anyone says about a “dead userbase” or P2W factors. I farmed all my ships by hand and won battles without needing premium ships.
A real dead game is e.g. Nightfire 007, with 0 active players, but still with one guy holding out with his dedicated server… at least… Star Conflict, in comparison, is quite alive, just maybe needing a stronger promotional campain. From the outside, maybe many people think this is a slow game like EVE while they don’t know about the crazy fast and wild recon fights here. I love the chaotic side of Star Conflict’s matches.
So i’m all for private servers or an end of life patch… ![]()

Can you elaborate? How can we play it without logging in?
I wasn’t talking about Star Conflict specifically but video games in general. As long as steam remains online.
