First and foremost, my deepest heartfelt thanks to 2 outstanding pilots for this rare opportunity.
Drawl and ZapBrannigan kindly indulging my curiosity to test the LRF in a squad setting to check for viability and see firsthand its’ lesser known drawbacks. Session was a little under 20 games played and provided tons of info. Uploaded some of the videos where I thought useful elements of the LRF games were visible if you looked for it.
Engineer + Guard + LRF support
Frigball with an LRF instead of the other usual suspects providing support

LRFs vs Regular Frigball
here’s your often hated Frigball Engi+Guard combo facing off against 2x LRFs with heal support.

LRF to Heal Squad
Started off versus your typical Engi+Guard+Gunship
Enemy team decided to spawn interceptors midway and managed to even take out Zap
Went for your vanilla Heal Squad to counter them.
** Note worthy - Command ship is a T3 boat in a T4 battle. No more excuses.

T4 Frigball vs T5’s
It was mostly a crapshoot and the squad were untested until this game
NOVA on pure T5s versus our T4 setup. No LRF unfortunately as I didn’t want to piss Zap off
Heal Squad versus T5 Interceptors
* Highlight match of the day for me *
much moaning about interceptors in patch discussion thread so I was rather pleased getting the opportunity to fly versus a pure inty side.
Watermark blocked the scores along the top of the screen using a free version of Bandicam so apologies for that
But the game was VERY close indeed and that point where the opposition took all the beacons I really didn’t know which way the game was going to finish
Trial version Bandicam also cuts-off after 10 minutes. The video is missing the dying seconds of the match and skipped to the scoreboard unfortunately.
* Learnt alot from this game, especially about T5 interceptors. My only comment is - having a tackler + slows on Red team would have changed the game. Or god-forbid, a LRF…
10 minutes 250 MB
A. Missing from the video is Zap spawning a Recon right at the end which he used to take the winning beacon. Interceptor to the rescue.
B. Jericho LRF OP vs Interceptors? I beg to differ
Felt this needed to be included in this set of videos
For people who might not have had the pleasure before
* ps - you dont really need to watch the whole thing to guess the ending lol
*pps - yes, drone kills can be important

For Zap
Recon LRF combo. Me taking out shields with Positron and Torp for Frigate hulls while Zap finish them off using Recon
Zap’s only predatorial on inties apparently. Was trying to feed him kills but he was more beacon minded when flying healer. Realized it a minute into the game where he passed on a kill chasing down a beacon instead. So I went ahead and LRF’d.
Only looked into #5 and you trolling their T5 interceptors with your T3 command. That’s the most inty friendly map in the game as far as I’m concerned. Surprised they didn’t win with the interceptors actually, but they didn’t exactly seem to team play. Plus they sucked. Their cov ops didn’t know he could cap under adaptive camo and their recon never spy droned anyone so you always got the jump on them at the beacons.
But gotta ask Snib: what exactly is that? All i get aside from the site you mentioned is crap forums talking about .msi as an extension of files (i know what this is…). Could you pls add details? Looking for a good reliable recording software myself as well…
Basically i wanna know if it kills your FPS while recording and how large do the files get over recoriding time? Fraps and bandicam suck hard at both ends.
And another question: what does it refer to as ‘working on any MSI graphics card’? (just confused a little )
Just download it and test it, it’s free, comes from a respected source (even though you apparently haven’t heard of them, MSI is one of the largest IT manufacturers out there) and with my seal of approval. Should work with any brand GFX card.
What FPS Ory? My fraps used to create @ 4GB every 2-3 mins for the same size… was running 120 tho xP
Bandicam was barely a bit below.
If FPS are an issue, then higher compression will likely cause an even bigger FPS drop for you since more CPU time is needed for compression. You can always re-compress the file afterwards before you upload (using something like VirtualDub).
I very much appreciate that you posted the videos.
Those were nice games, and its interesting to see myself from an other perspective.
Also it is a good display of Teamplay (since we didnt use any voice communication), i like to call it “situational awareness”
I bet Drawl enjoyed those matches with you as much as I did.
For all: I really recommend watching video #2, Its just hilarious that 2 LRF + Heal can own that much… Idk, either they played really bad (aka not as team) or the game mechanics are quite broken.
Anyway, thanks again and a lot.
Edit:In fact I learned from that 2v2 with me in a recon: Most (6/8) kills i did with missile-finishing hits. Lets me rethink my weapons…
