Sort of inspired by similar things I’ve seen / done with other games, I thought I’d share what I think the “rules” are for this game. They’re pretty universal in fairness, but fun and informative nonetheless… well, I think they are. :yes_yes:
Rule Zero - The Most Important Rule:
This is a game, and we play to have fun. If someone is not having fun, something has gone very, very wrong. I shall never knowingly seek to stop other people having fun playing this game, nor shall I continue to play if I myself am not enjoying it.
The Rest:
- Playing as part of a group against randoms and winning is nothing to crow about - playing as randoms and beating a group, on the other hand, is.
- Playing a build that is known to be cheap, overpowered or otherwise “easy” does not make me a skilled player; skill comes from taking what people know to be not worth bringing, and making it work.
- I shall not blame my team for our defeats - if anyone is to be blamed, I shall blame myself.
- I shall remember that the game is not about me; everyone deserves a moment in the spotlight.
- I shall not berate, insult or condemn members of my team.
- I shall praise my team when they succeed, and encourage them as much as I can.
- If people want to chat, I shall chat and be sociable if I can - not that I’ll throw the game for the sake of a conversation or anything.
- If someone asks for my help, or just for help in general, I shall help them if I can.
- I shall not pick on or single out a player to attack over any other - nobody likes being farmed.
- Kill Count is meaningless, as is total score; what matters is the accomplishments of the team overall, and whether or not I helped them achieve success.
