the new player experience

A friend of mine installed the game today and wanted to play together.  I invited him to squad, selected all t1 ships, and joined arcade pvp.

Almost every match had at least one t3 ship in it.  He is in a rank 1 ship with no implants and white mk1 modules and you have him playing against rank 9 ships with full blue/purple mods and full sets of implants?  We could shoot those ships all day and not break their tanks.

Its not fun anymore. Its absurdly unbalanced.

Its so sad that you have a decent engine and artwork and yet have no idea how to design a balanced, skill-based game.

Welcome to Star Conflict.

You’ll be making posts like solint1 in a couple of weeks.

Solint my idiotic friend. Here is how the matchmaking works: Its no longer that if you equip tier 1 you get placed into tier 1s. Its based on rank now, especially since people were sick of rank 12s farming tier 2. If you have reached the T2 rank, its time to buy T2 ships because thats why you will be placed. You kept dragging your friend to higher tier matches. Ever since the new patch it has been very balanced. Someone who just bought a T4 is usually placed in high rank T3 matches. Everyone who is crying about how it is unbalanced is either A) and idiot or B) sucks terribly.

So we can’t play with our friends who newly got into the game.

That sounds like a recipe for the community not growing.

You can if you play PVE or practice with players. Private matches are prolly in development.

Oh you can host private lobbies etc, its on the wiki.

Just need to know the chat commands

It’s still very bad to alienate people that are new to the game when it is there friends who invited them.

If I want to play games with my mates at the moment without draggin them into higher tier games I basically have to start a new account.

Why not just match make based on what I have equipped in the garage?

 Its based on rank now

I equipped rank 3 ships.  He equipped rank 1 ships.  We were matched against rank 9 ships.  Please explain to me how this is remotely fair for me and how he can do anything at all.

Just because someone can fly higher rank ships does not mean they want to play in those games.  It should be based on what you equip and not what you have unlocked.  This is the indicated behavior but the results show otherwise.

Strangely, it worked the opposite for us in PvE, where I was unable to drag him into t2 scenarios by equipping t2 ships (we always were matched in the t1 secenario).  On the other hand, if I solo queue for PvE with tier1 ships I am always matched for t2 scenarios.

This behavior does not make any sense.

I’m in low rank Tier 2. I keep getting put up against T3 ships. My team is usually consisting of T1-T2 droolers.

I started playing this game a week ago.

I never ran into a t3 ship until I reached rank 6 and the teams with the t3 ships actually lost. I never complained about being matched up against t2 ships as a t1 because I never felt it was unfair. I maintained a 2.0 win ratio until I switched out my t1 ship for a t3 ship and started fighting in t2/t3 where everyone isn’t a newb/drooling idiot. My win ratio is now 1.48. I don’t understand why people complain about mixed matchmaking.

If you have a t1/t2 setup and face a player with t3 ships, its nbd, the better TEAM will win. If you want to go to t3 and above, I would suggest staying in t2 pvp and farming t3 scenarios to get the modules you need. I haven’t found the motivation to farm pve yet, I’ll get around to it, so for now I’m sticking to t2 pvp.

Sorry, you’re wrong.  A rank 9 ship will murder a rank 1 ship.  Has nothing to do with the better team winning.  Error says this is a bug but it was happening quite often.

Also, you suggest staying in t2 pvp before moving to t3?  You do realize this is not possible in the current game right?  There is no choice offered to the player about what tier to be matched in.

But grats on farming a rank 7 ship in a week.  Now good luck equipping it with any competitive mods without paying cash.

It sounds like you don’t even play the game or you suck horribly at it. I’m willing to bet its both. Scrubs will be scrubs. =/
