The first ships to buy!

Hey guys,

I recently started Star Conflict and I am totally sucked in, the game rocks!

I started with the Empire, I liked the Buffs and the 1% Weapon damage. After trying out the Dverg (The Empire Interceptor), I am pretty sure I want to stay in the Fighter Class, I like the Speed/Damage/Resistance Combo. Got some good fights so I stay with this class. I got the feeling to last long enough to capture the bacon and my damage is pretty decent, so i can take on fights even with bigger ships. When I get the manouverability bonus from the empire tree I will be a happy space pilot for sure :yes_yes:

But what is the best way to develop from now. I saw that there are 2 developments available for the startership, the Hercules 2 and the Hercules Arrow.

I don’t want to spend Realmoney for the beginning so the buyable ships are not an option.

So would you recommend buying the Hercules 2 and the Arrow, or should I wait to Tier 5 or 6 until I buy a new ship?

And also, what weapons would you recommend for this class, I am working with plasma or laser, both works fine.

And how about the active ship boosters, are they bound to one ship or can i use them for all ships I buy? Are they worth the money, and should i go with them at the beginning?

Thanks and a nice day!

My startup plan would be to get rank 3 in each empire (should be fairly quick and you’re unlikely to regret it in the long run anyway) and try out all the roles (for example the covert ops and ECM interceptors are quite different to the recon interceptor you’ve tried, you might like them after all). Once you identify the roles you like the most, pick an empire that gives those roles and the ships you want to unlock will be fairly obvious.

If you don’t want to spend money. remember to do your contracts. They’re a bit of a grind, but they’re your ticket to getting equivalent gear to premium.

I’d actually recommend getting to R6 with each faction, then taking it from there. R6 will allow you to fly each race’s highest lvl T2 ships, and from there you get a pretty good idea of the “flavor” of each race.

This is purely my take, but here are where my preferences lie:

Empire:

  • awesome fighters, made even awesome-er by their racial ability: overdrive. Go down the Hercules->Deimos line and you won’t be disappointed. If you have some RL moolah to spare, spring for the Kalah (T2 premium gunship), it’s an excellent ship. Empire also has arguably the best T2 frigate in the Hydra 2, but ofc that’s debatable; all 3 races have excellent choices for frigs at T2.

Federation:

  • Their fighters are kinda meh, but their interceptors are ridiculous - specifically covops inties.  Grab yourself a Swift mk3, plasma arc and self-destruct and have a ball murdering frigates and capping beacons. Again, if you have some extra cash, get the Superkite - it’s…wow. Aside from being slightly OP for it’s tech level  (imo anyway), it’s stupid fun to fly. Oh, and the Superkite gets a 180% boost to rep gain, so it’s great for grinding out levels. I’m also a big fan of the Alligator C guard frig.

Jericho:

  • I’ve only recently delved into their tree, so I can’t say much about them. I’m planning on going fighter with these guys too; specifically their command ships. The Machete 2 (I think 2, might be wrong) gets a stupid amount of missile slots for laying mines at beacons. The buffs they give from command modules are often overlooked, but very much appreciated when they’re there. Extra resists can make the differnece between your team capping a beacon or not.

Only been playing for about three weeks, but that’s been my experience so far. Hope it helps :salute:

Thank you both, I think I will try to reach Tier 5 or 6 with the Empire and after that, start with the other fractions.

But to be honest I am not very interested in the Jericho group, but I’ll try it out.

Bought myself the Hercules II now.

But one more question, the active boosters in the right corner at the top when I am in the Hangar, how do they work, can I stack them do they count for every ship and how soon should I purchase them?

Thanks!

  1. Buy em, bonus is applied

  2. Yep, you can stack them (numerically, as in you can buy a bunch - but you can only have one active per slot, and their effects work together)

  3. Yep, they count for every ship

  4. Whenever you have spare cash. If you’re not saving for a big ship purchase, go ahead and indulge.

Ah thanks!

NIce to get some help here.

I found out that I can’t get better ships from the other fractions by just playing with their starterships, and heard that I have to do contracts. But when I wanted to take a contract it said I have to pay a fee, can you tell me how big the fee is?

I don’t want to loose my progress with the empire but I really want to play with the Tier2 Federation Fighterclass ships, to find out which fraction I want to develop.

Ah thanks!

I don’t know if you’ve discovered this resolution yet, but here it is anyway.

When you switch factions you have to pay a fee. This fee depends on how highly ranked your current faction is. For example, it costs about 100,000 credits to switch out of a Rank 6 faction.

Good news though! When you change factions your Rank in them remains unchanged. You can go back to that faction at a later date and pick up right where you left off. I’ve gotten all six factions to Rank 6 and that gives me access to every piece of Mk III equipment in Tier 2 - good times aplenty for me!

One thing I will say is don’t just look at ships based on their class - consider the racial traits as well. An Empire Gunship is going to handle differently to a Federation Gunship, for example. The difference is largest in Long Range Frigates - just try flying a Hydra and then switch to the Templar - same Rank, same Class, but totally different playstyle!

You don’t have to fly ships of your own race or faction, so don’t be afraid to hop around and find the roster that suits you best. It might get a bit expensive, but you’ll quickly find that if you grind all six factions you will earn a lot of money in the process - and if all else fails, PvE is easy money!
