[Tackler] The Art of the Ambush

Well then. . . . free compliments for you.

Sorry ArTic :

i was laughing pretty hard reading that lol.

Regarding the OP, something I would recommend you add for the alpha-tackler is pulse dischargers (2 is best). Any good gauss-tackler pilots knows that alpha damage is a combination of crit chance + damage and high base damage per shot. Contrary to what ArcTic tells you, cruise engine is not always a great option for gauss, especially on the Bear, as you have to sacrifice one or both pulse dischargers in order to stay cap stable, which is a pretty significant drop in damage on gauss.

I didn’t say it was always a great option. i just said i would. And i do. Idk if you’ve seen my gauss bear but i dominate in it. ultimate hit and run.

Also cruise engine with bubbles is extremely ineffective. the only thing they do is hold me still which another tackler already does.

In T5 the Lion rank13 and my Jaguar fit (3 1 2 2 1) are perfect for high rotation and bubbles, sadly after having to deal with multiple tacklers using the cruise engine i had to start using it, decreasing hard the rotation/strafe on my ship in close range.

Bubbles are less effective against hulls, instead gauss vs poor low kinetik resistance is a nightmare. But since i was a fan of wolf-m and generally in love with bubblegunship i use it and i don’t regret the choice.

Simple reason: i don’t have to run from a dogfight with a ceptor or wait until my engine suppressor is ready. Dog-fighting with bubbles is really fun for me and with gauss: i’m not able to do it without using the engine suppressor which have a too high reload rate. That would make me and my build acting “situational”.

Let me clarify: I’m speaking about t5, i see a lot of them there using the gauss, which is effective ok: but it’s not how i like to use that weapon (i love it on gunship, on the spark is awesome). Also when using that i’m not able to “try to carry” the whole team in something that is not team battle or combat recon. Since on close range, 90% of the time, the best option against skilled pilots that dodge your shots is to run away. Something not really useful when you have to fight for a beacon or stuffs like that.

So to finish off a guy that is already fighting with someone else, gauss is perfect on the “ambush tackler hit and run”. Problem for me is that 90% of the time i’m the “someone” guy, since it’s how i like to play mostly.

Gauss tacklers work better in bigger games  They rely on not being noticed, and being sneaky medium range snipers. If I have more than two lockons and no cloak or other escape mode ready, then I know I have f***ed up and will probably die. That what I love about the build!

But like you say it is hard to go for objectives, since that means dogfighting around beacons, which gauss tacklers can’t do. The only way to cap beacons is to clear them up from far away before going in, which you rarely have time to do before it switches to the next beacon or a recon warp in with holo and ML. No, in this case you have to play it like all the pro LRF players do, farming kills while increasing their reload times, and hope your team has enough common sense to be able to capture unguarded beacons (and even in t5 you’d be surprised at how many people find this a hard task…). The same goes for detonation. Just go defensive, farming those already slowed cov ops or sais with bombs, and hope your team picks it up and plants. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

What mill said pretty much sums up gauss tacklers.

For me, I still refuse to use cruise engines on my tacklers, as I still prefer the high rotation over speed. And with the Jaguar’s 15 second cooldown cloak, who needs a cruise engine to get away?

For me, I love my bubble gunships and gauss tacklers, and the occasional bubble tackler thrown into the mix. This combo really allows you to dominate any gamemode you come across (detonation may be the exception, but like mill said, you can use a gauss tackler to prevent their team from planting, and just win by kills, which sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t.

Overall, how you play tackler will greatly depend on what you want to accomplish. Gauss ambush tacklers are an interceptors worst nightmare, as they have the capability to 2 or 3 shot most interceptors. Bubble tacklers are also a nuisance, but in a different way. Bubble tacklers are great for staying in a fight, as most bubble tackler fits are more survivable, with better maneuverability. These ships are honestly the best all-around, as they can be effective against most ships. Full-slow, gravy-beam (dammit JC, you made me start saying it) tacklers are also incredibly annoying to anyone who runs adaptives, or anyone who runs a cruise engine. The simple inhibitor beam is enough to ruin someone’s day, even if they pop a multipurpose, 2 seconds later, you put it back on. Inhibitor beam I’ve found is best at ruining a cruise-engine fit not because of slowing them, but because you can drain all their energy very fast (if they aren’t paying close attention). Just turn the beam on and off repeatedly. Every time it turns off, they burn a lot of energy to restart their afterburners, and with repeated succession of this, they will run out of energy very quickly, and be unable to activate any modules.

Now why did I never think of this!!! Cruise chickens, you’d better watch out, cos I’m coming for you… Muahahaha

Cruise chickens days are numbered.  The news is out, I really hope I see a cruise tackler on tonight.

Rakza has this crazy cruise Saw 1 build as well, I’m gonna ruin his day next time i see him

Oops, he’s probably gonna read this XD

Cruise engine command? That sounds kinda weird.

I like ShapeShifter’s saw one. he is the only command pilot i can’t kill in an inty.

Updated OP with Crew Implants and a few Builds.

Not entirely happy with the actual Builds. May rework in the near future.

The updates are really good.  I really like this guide.  Wish it could be added to the star conflict WIKI !

First get them to pin it to the Guide section.

Pretty good builds. I would not use 3 of any module anymore due to the passive nerfs, so on your Jaguar, take off the third pulse discharger for something else.

Personally, I prefer the Jaguar for bubbles, as the Rockwell is better for gauss (in my opinion at least).

It really depends on your build

Mine is perfect for gauss
