[TACKLER] Tackler 101: Introductory Handbook

Well, it’s a different play style than standard tackler, one that allows much greater flexibility and safe range when supporting allies, which, for a Jericho tackler, seems ideal. I play my tackler strictly by the philosophy of speeding up allies kills and turning a dog fight in their favor. The larger my reach is with that 41.2% speed debuff, the more effectively my job is done. That’s just how I’ve found success through, it’s probably not for everybody.

I actually find it a bit easier shooting at an extreme range. Just zoom all the way in and lower mouse sensitivity and your golden. Practicing with that aim helper also did wonders.

Silent fox works very well with gauss because it’s fragile (as an R7 ship in T3), and due to the range boost. Haven’t tried gravis on them, but I assume it’s effective.

I’ve also used ions on Katana AE and went after frigates, or assault rails for mid-range ambush tactics. It was pretty fun, but that was a long time ago and rebalancing has changed things quite a bit.

Lolwut? I wont discuss the Gauss because it’s an obviously good weapon for both factions, but bubbles? While bubbles are good, they insane strenght rely on high crit values, damage and rof. Although you could use them perfectly in a Tackler, you would actually be safer on any of the other 4 weapons because of their range. Tacklers are not tanky, their only way to scape is the cloak, they’re more useful at medium range dealing with interceptors, it’s their job, if you go close range with bubbles you will pretty much die instantly, you don’t have the tank capabilities of Fed or Empire gunships, and being a bubble fighter means having a lot of locks on you because you’re the closest threat.

As a Tackler player, I started with Parallax and Bubbles, because of the overheat (or cooldown) bonus Parallax has, I thought the fast overheat of Bubbles could be mitigated with it. Although it helped, it’s not useful enough, you overheat too fast, you dont have high crit because of the lack of CPU mods. Using Gravi Beamer, Ions, Gaus or Rails are much more useful Imo because of how that weapons work: Gauss for obvious reasons, it has very high projectile speed and it’s made to clean up interceptors. The lack of crits on Tacklers are compensated with its charge mechanic and the target painter, making it even more deadly. Gravi Beamers are the best support option, your enemies can barely move, and with good aim you’ll be a nightmare for anyone. Ions, because they ignore resistances and plus the Target Painter they’re another nightmare. And Rails because you can increase the RoF with RoF ammo and Iridium Heatsinks, the lack of CPUs on Tacklers are compensated with Capacitor slots, so you can be like a Gunship in Overdrive 100% of the time, and the cooldown of Rails is fast enough to compensate the fast overheat due to the high RoF.

So tl;dr: For a Tackler, any weapon is better than bubbles.

I should add that depending on the ship bonus one weapon or another would be better. For example if it has range bonus you could use Gauss from an even safer position, or if it has effectiveness bonus, Gavi Beamer could be even a better option, because the active module slots would slow more, making your combo even more annoying. Or Ions, because Target Painter would reduce the resistances even more. And for energy cost reduction, you could take advantage of it and put Rails with lots of Heatsinks, without worrying about not having any energy regen passive module.

That’s obviously just a xxxx opinion, feel free to use the weapon you like the most on any ship.

Lol its ok everyone has their opinions, but i use bubbles because of fed tacklers high speed, low afterburner energy cost, and slowing modules, i have adpative shields on my fed tacklers lol. I play it like interceptor  call me crazy, but it works for me. In t3 and 4 it works well. I dont use gauss cannon because i feel like it does no dmg. Without charge its supposed to do like 1000 dmg to a ship with no shield, but when i hit someone with Deagle or some ESB player or something like that it only does about 600 dmg so im like -_- really? Wtf im not using this xxxx piece of crap. I know that they resist to every weapon but i just feel like that the resists to gauss cannon are so high. Also, people say putting resists is good but i kind of dont understand it. So if it says reduces dmg taken by kenetic weapon to hull by 50 pts that means that every shot that hits the ship does 50 less dmg? I honestly dont think its that significant but when those frigates that only take 1500 points of dmg from piercing missle to hull makes me extremely confused and suprised because i wonder how they could have so much resistance to hull and they are a FRIGATE so arent missles supposed to do 30% more dmg?

That’s obviously not a xxxxxxxxx opinion. I used to swear by assault rails because of its sheer versatility, then gauss when I favoured inty sniping.

I remember taking your advice and fitting my own Parallax with bubbles. I still use them primarily because I have a set of purple bubbles, and because it’s fun to cloak and tail fleeing intys with low health and OHKO them.

Updated singularities and assault rails entries to reflect the changes in the recent patch and a newfound insight.

gotta fix mine also.
