I think synergy should be awarded for killing NPCs: a small amount, in order to keep PVP as the most profitable mode of earning synergy. Lots of times i cant level my T4 or 5 ships because there are no PVP games, and PVE is way too routine and tedious, not to mention also that you depend on your team (so if the others players suck, you are screwed). Queues suck, so, an instant launch is just amazing.
The problem with giving synergy for killing random NPC is that you can potentially farm them forever; there is no end to them. Maybe some special NPCs (read: difficult ones we can’t easily solo) could award synergy for killing, but most of the small fries should not.
Or maybe they could give synergy, but killing them repeatedly would increase the odds of spawning stronger (and or more varied) enemies; farm too much and you get badass class enemies you need friends to beat. To return to basic foes, you would need to wait for the strong enemies to despawn on their own. That is the only way i see to avoid endless farming.
We need more missions to do (to keep invasion interesting), maybe npcs we meet could give us missions to help them, or some special boss could appear if we stick around long enough…

Relax, have you seen the synergy awarded in invasion for killing NPCs? its pretty low: i used a T4 empire LRF (Chiron: mk4 weapon, mk4 weapon overcharge and about 10k radar range) and went to a safe rank 10 sector, i set myself close to the center of the map and started killing ship after ship. I must have stayed about 40 minutes killing fast without picking cargo. I recieved less than 5k synergy. For PVE you recieve at least 8k if you do really bad and you will take about 15-20 minutes top. You can endlessly do PVE and youll get a lot more synergy (and credits) for doing it. At the time of that previous post i wasn’t aware we received synergy for killing the npcs (i’m sure we had none when i started playing this game months ago). I agree, it’s fairly low and we can farm it much more efficiently doing PVE missions. Still, i think some measures should be taken to prevent bot farming in invasion at the very least to avoid chinese like farming like i seen in EVE online (overloaded servers with tons of automated toon farming 24/7).
