Star Conflict: What do like about it and what you hate about it?

So once again I’ve become curious, except this time about the players, as I’m stating to notice a higher amount of players sticking to the game rather than leaving at rank 7/8. So I’m curious about just what people dislike about star conflict and what people like about it.

Pesonally I find the grind and matchmaker unbearable, but the graphics, level design, ship design, and mechanics nice in the game.

  • Good game modes

  • Graphics, ships, mechanics are very good

  • Invasion mode is awesome, only AI aim is to perfect (they almost never miss)

  • Ingame currency is easy obtainable except vouchers (needs to be easier to get)

  • grind is fun for a while but takes too long

  • cargo spaces in invasion are too small (stack same materials in same slot, this will make grinding faster)

  • fuel system is really annoying (make a separate slot of fuel and make it stackable for a certain amount (small ships 2, larger ships 4)

Every (free to play) game has his pros and cons

Overall I find Starconflict a very good game and will play it for a long time, I searched a loooong time for a good spacecombat like freelancer, finally I found this one.

PVP is great

Teirs seperate expirenced pilots for less expirenced ones.

Too many fire and forget features IE: plasma web, A1MA, Guard & sentry drones, attack drones, combat drones, parasitic remodulator, pulsar, holy crap there are a boat load of them

There are too many teirs seperating the playerbase too much. IE: 4th could just go away forever and no one would care.

There exists an open space mode, a plus.

Open space feels like I am moving from room to room. A big negative.

AI has been replaced with more enemy ships. While a negative I do understand that it just has to be tough to program AI to fully use three dimensions.

There is a leveling system. A very large plus in keeping a player base intrested for a very long time.

Leveling modules to the third rank is frustrating due to the slow loyalty gain.

The % increase for the 3rd & 4th rank modules is relativly low, a plus. It helps people who don’t have as much time to play.

Custom ships are too difficult to make.

There are now multiple ways to get parts for custom ships outside of open space. A big plus.

‘sky’ boxes look wonderful.

Were open space truely open space there would be no need for sky boxes…

Graphics are above average for a MMO.

I feel the American player base is mostly ignored.

Large number of sales makes me want to spend money on the game. A plus.

Is a large number of ships. I mean a large number of ships. They even look different!

There has got to be a dozen ways to play each ship.

There is more than one tatic to this game. I feel like there are infinate ways to win.

There is a large number of PVP modes. Just love that.

Servers are very poor causing lag and packet loss issues.

I could go on and on but who would really read anyway…

Okay… let’s have a go.

Pros:

  • PvE is (usually) fun, providing you’ve got top-end ships.
  • PvP is (usually) fun, providing you’ve got top-end ships.
  • It’s basically a modernised version of Colony Wars, but with a PvP focus.

Cons:

  • Invasion sucks compared to Colony Wars.
  • Invasion kind of sucks, period.
  • PvE is not fun if you’ve got low-end ships.
  • PvP is not fun if you’ve got low-end ships.
  • PvP isn’t fun in higher tiers.
  • Tier 1 is too bare-bones, to the point of being a total waste of time that shouldn’t exist.
  • We have less lore in the game now than we did during the 0.7 Beta.

Pros:

  • Awesome visuals and sound effects

  • Enough variety and specialization in ships

  • Almost always a challenge to play

  • Very nice concepts and future plans (such as open space, dreadnaughts, special operations)

  • PVP and PVE variety (could use a little more though)

  • Good Corporation system

Cons:

  • Poor server quality for servers not in home region

  • Small games when the game was meant for Large games

  • Very harsh grind (especially with no license)

  • Dev’s not listening to the community (The non RU community at least)

  • A few balance issues that still need to be fixed

  • New players do not want to continue playing due to bad tutorials and high ranked pilots bullying in lower tiers

Here’s My Bit:

Pros:

  • PvP is fairly well-balanced, especially in larger games.

  • PvE has a good storyline that gets players into the meta.

  • Invasion Sectors are well-developed in terms of map quality and mission objectives.

  • Tons of ships to choose from in each tier, giving pilots various builds to try for various situations.

  • Premium ships have a slight edge in combat, but only because of the module arrangement and not sheer module count.

  • Graphic quality is exceptional, especially for a F2P game.

Cons:

  • PvP Com systems are not good, and rarely used. (Default volumes are too low to hear voices, but it’s ok when tweaked).

  • PvP games are much less fun in smaller games, usually because a bot is present in lower tiers.

  • PvE missions are wildly different in terms of difficulty; there are some missions that you HAVE to follow one strategy.  That’s not right, especially if you’ve never played the map.  It should be easier to complete most missions.  Not much, but slightly.

  • Graphic optimization is a bit off, running medium textures seems to be better than running low, for instance.

  • Gameplay is too fast-paced for this game.  There are not enough tactical formations being seen in-game, and “lone wolf” pilots are very common.

  • Tutorials are shoddy, in-game interface is minimal for information means, and beginning settings seem to work against the player.

  • Not enough advertising done by the developers to push this game into more computer gamers’ systems.

  • No clear, concise plan set by the developers showing their long or short-term goals for the game.

  • Lack of communication between developers and players.  Sure, we get our information to them, but  I WANT TO SEE DEVELOPERS POSTING ON THIS FORUM MUCH MORE OFTEN THAN THEY DO.

Other than that, this game really is VERY solid.  It has a lot of work to be done, but overall, the developers have done a good job in progressing the game.  The playerbase is expanding, but not really because of advertising…more of word-of-mouth/interwebz I feel.

Hopefully my con list will shorten and move to pros

Pros

  • runs on my very low spec laptop

  • amazing graphics!

  • very good combat and flight mechanics

  • huge variety of ships

  • huge variety of ship modifications

  • many different game modes including PVE missions

  • open world game mode with missions and a number of different enemies to fight, including the possibility of player killing

  • good corporation system

  • friendly community (mostly)

  • chatting in English chat

  • crafting system

  • I have never seen any other game like it

Cons

  • small playerbase (although this does make it easier to make friends and meet them frequently in battle)

  • server problems

  • little focus on teamplay for example no bonus for flying in a squad, little reward for assisting kills, no compensation for flying useful but dangerous to fly ships like engineer

  • too few tournaments and special events

  • “gap” between Russian pilots and the rest of the world for example no in-game translator an dno possibiliry to copy Russian text to use an external translator, seperate forums, very few people employed who speak both Russian and English in order to bridge the gap

  • ECMs

  • laser gunships

  • LRFs

  • no corporation alliance system

  • unfair matchmaker (partly linked to my first negative point)

  • it is too addicting! I spend way too much time online and “there’s always time for one last battle”

  • too much pressure to spend real money (seeing people buy ships etc)-

like: epic graphics, epic gameplay, fun community(non-forum), personizability of ships, crafting and looting resources, open space, ship design, Hunters, Aliens in general, diversity of roles, epic sounds.

dislike: grinding, not having a Hunter or alien ship, not being able to grind Monos, outrageous prices on everything, insane docking price, ammo bug that uses up ammo even if you didn’t fire a single shot.

Pros:

When playing on laptop, graphics render.

When playing on desktop, graphics are sex.

Forum community is amusing, to say the least.

Interesting concept, and nice execution.

Cons:

Server connection is (sometimes) suck.

Quality of players at top tiers is suck.

Method of monetization is mediocre.

Grind is suck.

Number of resources available to new players is suck.

Pros:

-T3 PvP games (T4 and T5 games are too small)

-Great balance in large games

-Extremely fun gameplay

Cons:

-Not enough emphasis placed on teamplay (this is a team-based game after all)

-Too small player base (DO MORE ADVERTISING WITH OUR MONEY)

-Tier-rushing is far too easy

-****y servers (some are reliable, but most, mainly RU, have constantly unstable ping and packet loss)

What I really hate about it:

USBzscE.jpgI’m playing less and less of this game and other games instead because of pings like this frequently.

After upgrading to a direct fiber backed Internet & replacing my router I have stopped having lag issues.

For the most part.

Course not everyone can have that fiber backed Internet that knocks off about 20 - 30 ms…

BTW if you live in mid-Michigan CMS has an outstanding product.

I have 24mb/s internet and get these problems

Thanks for the input! Forwarded.

What I really hate at the moment is putting on sales with no notice/notification lasting less than 24hours. Rather annoyed to have missed this one - been saving my GS for a good sale…

I’d like to add Cov ops with scatter guns to the things I despise.  Or just scatter guns in general.  Its pretty broken.  When they are made role specific (better not be for CO), they either need a slight damage nerf or make it so it doesn’t sound like the cops are busting down your door when you get hit.

“Pretty broken” is a bit of an understatement.

I would have to add the scattergun and the Destructor to my list.

Scattergun is OP in every aspect. Plain and simple.

Destructor is OP in the sense that in can prevent an entire team from taking a beacon.

Don’t forget the positive also guys

For example the new fighter weapon has some really interesting mechanics, and I think with a bit of tweaking it could be really cool!

Don’t forget that two of those weapons have been all but abandoned by players, and the remaining weapon causes huge performance issues, not to mention being unbalanced as all hell.
