Iâm going to go out on a limb here and say that I donât hate this patch. I understand that some pilots are unable to connect/load throughout the duration of their battles. I have not had any issues thus far.
I have wanted the option to select a server region for a long time, and Iâm thrilled by itâs arrival. In lower tiers, having a latency of around 160ms is surviveable. In T4/T5 combat, however, that sort of thing can get you killed in a hurry. As of yet, I have not felt the need to specify a server region. Leaving my menu option on âAnyâ has not affected me negatively. I have played all my games today on North American servers. Recently, my queue times have been much better. On some occasions, (maybe 1 in 10) the queue is instant. Otherwise, I typically only have to wait approxomately 2 minutes. This, of course is when I am flying solo. If I squad up with other T4âs, queue times jump up to around the 4 minute mark again.
I am prepared to disagree with those who say matchmaking is broken. I have currently in my hangar two R10 ships with synergy levels of 5 and 6, and two R11 ships with synergy levels of 3 and 5. If I enter into a small battle (i.e. 3-5 ships on either side) I will find myself matched against opponents with similar stuff in their hangars. If I make it into a larger battle though, I typically find 2 - 5 players on each side with comparable T4 ships, while the rest of each teamsâ ranks are filled by T3âs. What the advanced players do with their advantage is entirely up to them. Some of them have T3âs in their hangars as well, so I would assume they are trying to earn synergy on those ships in order to unlock something better.

For a discussion thread, I seem to be encountering quite a large number of emotional responses. I thought this was the place to discuss what aspects of the patch are working for us and which are not. Could we maybe be a little more constructive in our criticism?

One final note. What is going on with bots these days? I have noticed some very inconsistent play from bots present in PvP matches recently. Today, for example, I was matched up in a 3v3 with two bots apiece on each team. The opposing human pilot and I were very closely matched. He managed to shoot me down twice, and I got him once. The bots, however, were worlds apart in their performance. A bot on the opposing team even managed to outscore the human player. After the match, (which he won most convincingly) he PMâd me acknowledging that he had received an advantage due to his superior bots. I replied that one of mine seemed to be having an off day. I understand that tweaking the A.I. is a labor intensive process, so Iâm not going to ask anyone to do that. Instead, I have a suggestion: if only one human pilot is present on a team, could that pilot at least be able to select which ship in each botâs hangar said bot will take into battle? We obviously canât fly the ships for them, but câmon; a bot in an ECM or a Gunship is noticeably more effective than one in a Guard or Long Range frigate.
One final note: the A.I. detection needs to be tweaked on Abandoned Outpost. I have noticed that bots will bypass the static warp gates and elect to travel between beacons in the conventional fashion instead.
