There’s the issue of improperly fitted frigates which I’m guessing is more common than we think.

Time taken for a Frigate to pop an inty is ALOT less than the reverse.

 

Positron can do it in about … 6 shots or less. That’s less than 10 seconds

Shrapnel vs Engineer ? I’d say upwards of 30 seconds based on observation without doing calcs.

 

Disparity widens if you take explosives into account.

 

Theory is - interceptors have speed to cause misses on the Frigate’s part extending time to kill

 

Unfortunately - it’s not fast enough.

Making them go faster will ruin the game for inaccurate gamers.

 

Solution?

  • raise damage.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. The game is no-skill insta-kill heavy enough for me. The amount of people doing the nuke/self-destruct routine in T3 is hallucinating. It’s all about ECM and explosions in that tier. So boring. And now with the upcoming tanking nerfs for fighters it’s just going to get worse. Don’t want more of that myself… :confused:

It doesn’t help the bought mk1 fitting with ships is terrible usually…

Say what? The T3 battles I play the interceptors do most of the damage, frigates the least. I certainly shred a frigate quickly enough in an inty.

They were too squishy. Are they still squishy? How squishy? Frigate health (ESPECIALLY engineers, those should barely gain any more health from T2 up) should drop and interceptor health needs a boost. Individually, from T3 up. I had no troubles with ECM, they’re fine. So Recons and Cov Ops need buffing?

i think your problem with interceptors is that you don’t fly with command support, which is generally a bad idea ;o

 

they are meant to be used with command. without they are like tissue paper.

 

anyways, just my observation. whenever i fly command and support in that way, the inties seem to clean everything up ;o

 

but then again, my T3 command has experimental valkyrie and polarizer…

Solution?

  • raise damage.

Or introduce a weapon that allows an inty to use its full speed to its advantage and yet retain good accuracy. Hmm… Homing projectiles, anyone?

nah. it’s fine as is… just use a command pop a gravi-scanner several seconds into the battle. and pop a valkyrie at the point when they are DPSing the most.

 

inties unstoppable with gravi-scanner, sine percentage speed boosts work best on fast ships. put you inties at 500-700+ can’t be hit = like adding extra resistance on top of your other actives.

 

also allows them to escape inhibitors, slowing field, etc.

 

main problem with frigs is EM torps.

 

plus, inb4: most inties should have a survival modules (ie flare, lowest cooldown) and the R8 implant to prevent speed debuffs and damage from homing missiles/guided torps.

Heh, Kine, I disagree about the base but I think I have the same conclusion.

Since I play mostly Engi with Positrons since 0.9.0, I think I approach this from the other direction.

I have to tune my whole ship for my positron to be effective against inties, giving up defense, making my rock into almost paper. And I am a mid-range Sniperplayer in FPS, so I do have better scores with this kinds of weapons, clearly dealing more damage than with any other ship. It’s still a lot of misses on good Ceptors, some I even don’t even try shooting, because the distraction can be my death. And actually, I see the Positron way more effective at mid range Frigate vs. Frigate fights, because I have to keep everything at range and make them stop coming into my direction. Usually flying out in the open does not help them poor Ceptorlings either. But it really comes down to aim vs. manouvers. If I stay well there is a situation, where a Ceptor simply cannot reach me for a kill alone, but it can duck behind covers and also heals up much faster. I can also not move position too much since in reality, I rely on small little balls healing me up.

 

It’s a Ceptor. A paper ship. If they come in a swarm, your steady aim and big alpha however means nothing.

 

You are one of the harder to hit individuals anyway, so don’t think I aint trying.

 

I dont feel so vulnerable in Inties to be honest. Especially the small signature size of Jericho is fun, and Fed can be incredibly fast, while Empire Ceptors can be surprisingly tanky. So it’s not about speed in every aspect of the Ceptor.

 

I do feel that with Lasers and Rapid Fire Plasma guns being almost useless, the Ceptors have less of a spectrum of finding the correct weapon for the individual pilot. The other two weapons are pretty nice (Assault Plasma, Shrapnel), so maybe Ceptors feeling so outgunned is more the lesser dynamics of that class, and yes, a bit of lack of damage (Shrapnel e.g. could have its spread reduced again at least a bit, Arc or Orion unnerfed, etc.).

i think mortars are better on engineers for defense/anti-inty cloud. positrons i find i can only hit fighters at really long ranges. it can be done at mid range but is unpredictable. positrons work for sniping guards/engies tho. so it’s kind of a trade-off.

I wish they add new game modes.

Almost all my assists were damage, I had 3-4 Buff assists on that match. He has less assists, we have the SAME points, but I have MORE assists. How does he get placed above me?

Assists are just a number. What counts is efficiency. You’ve got the same, so after that it sorts alphabetically.

If two have the same points, its damage done, not alphabetically. My bet at least, after seeing how we are ranked in total 0 0 0 losses.
