Star Conflict OBT v.0.9.15 Discussion

I do miss RFR mostly, but more than the weapons it’s the ability to switch damage types that I miss.

I used it on interceptors

Hardcore mode activated.

I used it on a guard…

What…

What do you mean by “Sooooo Predictable”?

Who would expect rakza playing guard?

Who would expect rakza playing guard?

Pffff, Who said I was flying a Guard?

Pffff, Who said I was flying a Guard?

mmm… you?

now let’s stop the chat and not derail the thread anymore

Oh noes, is it a nerf to the gauss cannon comming? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeee… Im loving that weapon, still liked it A LOT before the crit changes aswell. It shouldnt be nerfed. I just get pissed that i cant hold fire as long as i want, cause of the heating thing.

So why exactly do you think it should NOT be nerfed?

For me is not a huge nerf, I only charge it when my lock system is trying to lock on the ship, most of the time I just fire shots to do some residual damage to enemy shield, then charge to take down hull.

I’m pretty happy if they remove 1 charge and increas the time the weapon needs to overheat.

Currently ability to deliver 3x charged shot+crit to an unaware interceptor/federation fighter is the strongest part of a Gauss. Even most skilled interceptor pilots rarely do 110% evasive maneuvers when they are under lock but no one is shooting at them, having 1-3 locks for the whole game duration is normal and just part of the game, but any hostile fire (hit o r miss w/e) will trigger extra effort into dodging patterns, I am not saying they fly in straight line but they sure arent completely focused on dodging. It is much easier to hit anyone with timed fully charged shot than do constant 1 charged shots, even though due to the crit mechanics and builds 1 charged shots have a much higher average dps (granted 100 accuracy) vs 3x charged shots. Limit to 2 charged shots will reduce that element of surprize $##@!r in your rear engine and will allow for a lot more breathing space on receiving end.

So why exactly do you think it should NOT be nerfed?

Sure, for inties that is bad, thats basically what you are saying in the next post of yours. And it is bad for inties to be able to be killed as fast as a frigate right?

But for fighters, the decrease in dammage will make the weapon pretty much worthless to any other target that is not an interceptor.

The interesting is that in this forums, all i see is: Hey, nerf that class cause inties cant kill it (guard nerfhammer). Hey, nerf that thing cause it is causing inties problems (nerfhammer to ions). Naaaah keeep tacklers as it is, they are good where they are now (says inties pilots everywhere with fear of their tackling abilities). Nerf gauss cannon because it can take my entire hull in one hit, or my entire shield in one hit (and now again, a nerf to what inties call too OP) and noone sees the inties as OP’s. Then, a reduction in the heal they receive starts a mayhem on the forums all screaming: IM NOT IMMORTAL ANYMORE, THIS GAME SUX!!!

Everytime it is interceptors complaining something is to OP, and everyday we see more and more interceptors flying… WHY IS THAT? I don’t believe it is because all of them became great pilots, and ditched their frigs and fighters to use inties, they just went for inties, cause they survive longer than anything on this game. Now that theres a weapon capable of causing trouble to inties the mimimi on the interceptors side made another nerf hit a weapon that spent (all the time im being playing this game) unusable… very nice, there goes that formidable weapon to the garbage again because of rants of interceptor pilots that cannot maintain  their 2000 DSR now that gauss hit them hard.

For the first time i’ve seen good pilots that were pratically imortal, dying, they were FORCED to play more strategically instead of just charging in, destroying everyone and leave unscarred.

I usually fly fighters, and i dont find it hard to dodge almost all gauss shots fired at me, for an interceptor that has tons more agility shouldnt be an issue too, just chose carefully your dogfighting place, lure, take the fight to another place and shots cant hit you easily… And why the hell dont you all inties fit kin hardeners if you are so scared of those weapons…Ohhhhh i see, cause you are too scared of the other weapons that hit you too, so you would have to give up resistances on those ones to fit for kinetic. So basically you want to fit with EM and thermal and ignore kin since theres no good kin weapon capable of landing dangerous dammage to you. Easy that way, why dont they make for fighters some nifty thing like this, like, lets say, make them take low dammge from thermal, then we can stack to oblivion kin and em resists and ignore thermal?

Im a fighter pilot and even i agree the new gauss needs some nerfs, its just a little TOO STRONG. Its better than before, but still needs some work.

Every weapon or module is OP when it is in the right hands and used on players that don’t know how to deal with it.

I am sorry, but out of this rant, i got only 3 points:

a) You are not experienced in flying interceptors vs strong and organized opponents

b) you do not know how to play against enemy strong and organized squads that have interceptors

c) you either do not know how to build a Gauss in T3+ or do not know how to use it effectively

You did not provide a single constructive point towards Buff/Nerf of a current Gauss state/mechanics only “I feel this, I feel that”.

Any PvP Team based game has to be balanced from top to bottom (meaning balance for highest skill level of play, i.e. teams, squads, competitive tournaments, only then it should be looked into average gameplay and people at the bottom of the food chain should not have a voice in balance) If you balance a game for lowest of this world you will create capabilities for players that are at the top, that will push those to the limits that average joes never could dream off and then solo rambo the all enemy clueless randoms.

Most of the players get attracted to this game because of ability to fly fast, dynamic gameplay, fast encounters. Those are only achieved on interceptors and somewhat fighters, thats why no matter what in low tiers people will fly interceptors, no one knows about balance, when you go in higher tiers you find people understanding a game better and most of those that are competitive will try to combine most efficient resources with most fun to them ones.

Last night i decided to “extensively” test gauss and tried to get most effective kill build out of it, after practicing vs bots for awhile i went into random PvP in T3, i went on a streak of 60+ kills on my Gauss ship befor i got killed 1st time, and it is not like no one tried to kill me, 1600 rating in T3 +NASA tag usually means extra attention to your persona in random games, often people will go out of the way or suicide only to kill you, well to bad. Were all of them “well build” interceptors? hell no, you notice them from dying in 1 second and not even having time to use invis/surv modules if they even had those and those that do fly well/ built well were forced to retreat and hide far away.

Current gauss is comparable to a disintegrator that is 10x times easier to hit, does not give away your intentions with laser marker and fit on fighter with all benefits that comes with that ship class.

*Sniff-Sniff* I smell the Gauss nerf incomming…

The devs regularly over compensate on bufs and nerfs.  I think this could have been intentional to get more people to use it to know how it needs balanced.  Before it was underpowered.  Now it’s overpowered but the devs are getting their statistics.  Before the only people using it were die hard gauss fans.

I’ve always been a Gauss lover like you call it.

All my games are around this weapon since a discovered it.

I do play Gauss with my prometheus X. And I can tell you that a good build with gauss were always a big explosion of interceptors.

Around 30% crits, 3rd charged shot, and kaboom.

Removing the 3rd charge of gauss will only make of it a positron cannon.

Yeah, Gauss is perfect at killing inties if you’re at back. But in dogfight, it’s much more harder. Just have to flee until a friend help you so that you can turn around and finish them.

The other point is that killing even a fighter take sooo many time that he can without any problem hide behind a rock.

Trying to attack a command with gauss is useless. You won’t pass through diffusion shield. Gunship will kill you before you charged your gauss. OK, why not for tacklers.

But frigates, it’s just impossible. Mk4 gauss t3 have 1100 dps. That’s to few to attempt a kill on those monsters.

Gunships can pull it off, i did it to some t4/5 fed engie

New Gauss with 2 charged shot crit still will do more dmg than an old 3x charged Gauss crit

I actually don’t find THAT hard to kill Fighters and even Frigates with Gauss. Ofc not solo (only sometimes), but the damage on them is still something to fear.

Damage per second or damage per shot?

Per shot

But guass isn’t meant to be a hold-down-mouse-button kind of gun. It’s a charge and alpha strike kind of weapon… Speaking of charges, I guess we’re likely to see a drop in the charge accumulation?

How is that possible?!
