Beam-Canon has already superior range… Battles dont need to be more static than they already are.

Size doesn’t matter, it is how you use it.

 

You know exactly what I mean, we are all thinking the same thing: huge, big, pulsaring frigate can get easily killed by tiniest interceptor.

 

 

Pulsar as a verb… works. Is Plasma Arc then Arcing?

 

Beam-Canon has already superior range… 

 

Actually, It’s more a “Red Dot” than a Weapon Zap xD

And don’t forget the mechanics used in the dammages calculation for the BC.

I will trade this “Superior Range” (which is a false bonus due to the Optimal/Maximal Range Dammage calculation) for something more interresting.

 

It’s not for Nothing that HB/PC are dominating as frigate’s weapon.

Something really has to be done about the railguns. I have tried using them, a lot, on across all tiers. They have their niche use - sometimes. But whenever I switch back to singularity it’s like trolol, why did I even bother with the rails, they could just erase them from the game.

 

Gauss damage is too low - and I am good with gauss, but it is still too weak to be considered a serious weapon. It overheats too fast, and charges too slow. Against anything else than interceptors in 1000-3000 range it is completely useless. An enemy gunship with singularity will eat you for breakfast, and command ships will just laugh at your pathetic damage. And in close range dogfight interceptors will just tear you apart. Singularity is still better against all these situations, every time, and specially against frigates, where gauss damage is non-existent. This weapon needs some love.

 

Assault rails spread is too high, projectile speed and accuracy too low. You can never dogfight with these, it is completely hopeless, and dps still cannot compare to singularity. Decent against armored targets, useless against fast. I tried this on Wolf, Tiger and Piranha, which are all railgun specialized with speed and spread reduction. And it’s still not good. While horrible at hitting interceptors, raw damage is a little better, it’s just the inaccuracy that makes it useless, while with singularity you are always safe and can defend yourself in all situations, with this weapon, you have no advantage over any other weapons, it is just mediocre and worse than the rest.

 

Singularity wins every time. Great against armored targets, great against fast targets, it goes trough beacons, it kills everything and is by far the superior weapon in all situations.

 

Ion emitter is in a good place, and can work well in certain situations, while railguns still remain outmatched in every scenario. Buffing them would really help to shake current metagame a bit, show these weapons some love.

My railgun tests showed that if you click maniacally with like 0.5s delay, you got 100% accuracy and no overheat with like 20% less DPS.

You don’t have time to aim and click manually every 0.5 seconds, this is useless. If you don’t maneuver between your shots you will die. That is why you need charged alpha, what gauss should be used for. But alpha is still too weak, and uncharged shots are way too weak. This weapon is not supposed to be spammed. If you spam it every 0.5 for sake of potential dps, you are doing it wrong.

I use both railguns and gauss and do fine in T3. (disclaimer: I do not fight (good) interceptors cause I can’t hit them anyway - no idea how can you hit an Eagle with 3 verniers or w/e they fit with bubbles)

 

for railguns you need to use them like automatic rifles in FPS - short burst fire

Buff to Railguns: Remove the spread scale, the damage is average-low, without spread scaling on time, it would be easier to use, and the DPS could be somewhat decent compared to Ions or Bubbles.

 

Buff to Gauss: Reduce charge time and allow the player to charge without overheating the weapon, that way the player will be always able to have the weapon charged (like old sharpnel).

Something like that. Gauss could use 10% more damage overall and 50% faster charge speed (with current heat). IIRC gauss was better at start of 0.9 and than it was nerfed.

 

Assaults: 20% less spread, heat and faster projectile speed. Buff more if not enough.

About the Railguns:

I never came into a Situation where Rails would have been optimal. 

Everything can be solved better with Bubbles or Ion. 

Whenever I get hit by the Plasma Arc, I say I am being knifed. That is basically what it is, right? A large blade made of super-heated ionized gas.

Actually there are rumors that it is made in china and actual Plasma arc is a countless amount of cigarette lighters…
