Problem is that evryone understood that the MM system is going to work better with lot of players on line ( kind of 5-6000?) but it’s anyway true that old system granted nica matches in each tie and T4 too, with no more than 1400-1500 players on line…

So just a suggestion: would it be possible to make the new MM effectve just when the right number of ppl is online and stay with the old MM system when the connected players are under the optimal number?

The waiting time always depends on the number of players in queue for the corresponding Tier.

As you see,  we know that queue times depend on the player-base. 

I have this queue graph activated. I see how many players are in the queue. I can also differentiate the PvP from the PvE guys, since you get dropped down pretty much a whole tier if you queue for PvE. 

Filtering those, I still “know” that there are Players in the queue. Yet MM dont want me to fight against them, or only after a hilariously long time. 

 

The old MM had a system, that let me queue for 5 mins maximum and then force a match. This is no longer in place. 

Id love to have that mechanic back.

In theory, the MM grants you a challenging match to make your w/l around 1.0. This only not true at the top and the bottom of the ladder, because if you are one of the best or the worst, you can’t get an equal amount of people who beat you and who are beaten by you.

Zap complained that if you play too well you are matched with Aces to make up for your skill, and how that ruins the game for him. Thats one tool of MM. If there are not enough good players Qing, you cant get a challenging match without some tards in your team. The MM tests your skills to carry a game. Thats ok, could be better maybe, but not horrible.

 

The real problem comes from the Tiers. A Tier is a huge step. If you are MMd against higher Tiers, you will get frustrated, because you just don’t have the tools to deal with them. Mixed Tiers basically force this frustration on the playerbase. Fixed Tiers wouldn’t be much better either: than you would have not one group of best/worst players but 5, 5 group of players who fall out of the MM’s reach. Also, with this few players playing, fixed Tiers is just not possible.

We should get some kind of christmas update this week, most companies stop working on the 23rd this month… 

This is interesting how you perceive it. Me, personally, I only played the game so long because it was so much fun. The higher tiers came along on the way, I never felt that there was any kind of a grind to the game, since most meta is around T3, and you get there quickly. 

 

Sure, when the games are fun you dont even notice the amount of grind you are doing. But these days, i can tell with 80-90% of accuracy which team will win (mine or the enemies). Why? Last day me and my brother got into about 2 matches and me and a friend in another 2 matches. Both showed a gread deal of problems, but the most painfull were: 1) Our team average SR barely 1100 (im not joking, ppl with 884, 985, me and wingman 1250, another few 1000, 1050, 1100) the enemy team average was above 1250, with aproximatelly 5 players with 1350+ SR, And theres more, some of those were flying T3’s while me and my wingman were on T2’s.

 

So, this situations remove completely the will to play, when i started i used to play almost all day long, now i log in, fly a couple matches and then leave. Feels worse than going to the Dentist.

 

So, like i said, it is like a mining job (i dont have anything against mining just to be clear) an very strong physical labor (i prefer intelectual labor) on unhealhy enviroment repeating the same crucible every day to get scraps of synergy and creds.

Agree with you,  for the MM theres no middle term. If i win 2, 3 times in a row with a mediocre performance, it will pair me with the worst players in the world against the best available. So basically the MM says: Hey, you killed 3 ppl last match and got 1000 points, you should be able to deal against people who kill 15 players per round and capture 17 times the beacons. Or it does the other day around: Hey, you lost those 3 matches despite doing 3000 points and killed 72348723648 people, so ill put on this team of superbadasses so you can win some battles.

Some snow would be nice… oh yea~~

That would A. be very awesome. and B. Would be scary to fight. 

 

As I recall they changed the beacons to Christmas trees…with blinking lights last year, they may do that again. Most likely they will release another patch next thursday or after the new year.

As I said before: 

Where is the point of playing when the MM cheats? 

I got very good at predicting the outcome of a Match in T4+ (My quota should be about 95% right predictions (maybe I make a screenshot series to that))

Interestingly you can do/fight/flying perfect the very best match of your life… you just cant turn the tide, you just cant change the inevitable…

This can be regularly seen in matches 2v2 - 6v6. You just _know _when you lost. 

Thats the real frustration for me… I know, not everyone has the same experience-level, same hand-eye-coordination or what so ever… its totally fine. I have enough derpy moments in battles myself. 

 

Still, there are some PPL, which fly way worse than the bots. If you have to compensate for them its frustrating. Especially when you know you had won that battle, if you had a bot on your side instead of “real humans”. 

 

IMHO the frustration with the mixed tiers should end if you achived Rank 8. After that ships get better in stats and Implants (thats partially only a small increase… given you dont have to fight ships which are > 3 Ranks. 

But yes, Fighting T2 in T1s, T3 in T2s is just frustrating. They are better and they can do a lot more (regarding weapons, Ammo, Actives, Passives) At least T1 and T2 should be completely LOCKED.

As you have probably guessed - no update today. We had to postpone it, unfortunately.

But yes, Fighting T2 in T1s, T3 in T2s is just frustrating. They are better and they can do a lot more (regarding weapons, Ammo, Actives, Passives) At least T1 and T2 should be completely LOCKED. 

 

Thats actually a good suggestion! If a Tier has enough players, it could be locked. It can change dynamically.

Would be great, but 80% of the corporations fall in the “I NEVER WANT TO PLAY BY YOUR SIDE” category, we’ll be out of teammates, lol xD

There are always exceptions to sweeping statements like that - But from experience, Corp members do not play as a team. They play solo - Fly off and attack alone, then die alone. Id rather not have them on my side - And I bet this is the same view as a large % of the player base
