Antibus, you must tell the devs to fix the matchmaking for squads now.

 

Since last update for squad MM, waiting for 15 minutes in T3 to get a game with 3 man squad is crazy. I won’t even mention T4, you can forget about getting any games there. I have already mastered minesweeper during waiting times.

 

The game won’t let us play. It is broken.

 

This is what this game is right now: a waiting simulator: time wasting deluxe.

Ok, there will be some fixes to wait time this week, can’t say which for now, but it is supposed to improve the situation and make the wait shorter.

If the development team hates squads this much they should remove them entirely. What’s the point of making a squad? to play with your friends and have an advantage in battle… and WIN battles. The matchmaking tries its best to make the game worse for squads

 

We people know how to evade it but the newbies? They make squads and wait for long times only to get a higher tier match and bring down their own time while getting steamrolled.

 

Here’s a thought. STOP trying to '_ balance’ _ the matchmaking. Keep it random… random will produce much better results than the current system.

The fact you want to prevent the Snowball for one faction can be understand. But the main objective for a game isn’t to be played?

Please not that this waiting times also occur in normal pvp, not sector conquest. At least for T3+. I tested it in a squad and the waiting times are up to 15mins. 

Please fix it ASAP.

Sometimes I ask myself why am I even still playing this game, with the absurd waiting times and matchmaking.

 

It’s a shame really. Because even with all this xxxx going on, I am still playing it, for some reason.

 

But the game is fun. It’s still good. Even with all the bad stuff they did, they still didn’t manage to completely ruin it. And this just shows how good the game was from the start, really. But they are getting near to killing it, now. It’s such a shame.

 

Cannot imagine how great it would be if they fixed this and stop messing with the squads, and even add new maps. That’s all they need to do, really. Oh, the dreams…

I never found that thread. 

Its a nice Idea tbh. but it doesnt seem to work. 

Maybe the player-base is too small or players felt so punished by squadding up (mixed tiers) that they just stopped to squad up. 

 

So, no. The Ideas per se are good. But we are lacking the player-base atm. So try to adapt the MM to the playerbase.

That’s a good point. I personally never was sure if it was a good idea, I didn’t suggest removing it, and I didn’t really mind fighting my own squads (it was often said in the forums that fighting your own corp is ussualy challenging and interesting). Even those custom battles with ESB fighting eachother all over the place were a lot of fun to play in, and it’s always interesting too see 2 squads from the same corp fighting eachother as well.

 

But hey, it’s beta - you removed this function, and it does indeed make much more sense now (and even SQ is more logical now, but I would make it that only corps are on the same side, not factions, so we will get some very exciting games), but theory is one thing, and practicality another one. If your data and feedback show it’s worse now, and this might be one of the reasons for absurd queue times, you might as well put it back. But I don’t think this is the cause. IIRC somewhere in the update log was mentioned that MM is now looking for squad against squad games, so if you have a 3 man squad you cant enter a game until the MM finds another 3man - THAT is the problem.

 

Does this work for 2 man too? Because that would explain 20+ min waiting times for 2mans in T4 and T5, where I was just fighting solo a 3v3 in T5 a few minutes ago, but as soon a friend joined in my squad - no game for us. :confused:

Contrary to the patchnotes it seems also valid for 2-man-squads. Can you look into this please?

Yes, as I just edited my post a few moments ago (ninja’d by Zap), was saying the same thing. I am preetty sure it works for 2 man, because many times it happened we had no games for 2man in T4/T5 with populated tiers and games going on.

in my opinion, the playerbase is way to small to do stuff like:

 

  • “default” region

   - people may complain about bad ping on “RU/US/EU” servers while playing. but they can play. much more important than playing the waiting simulator. 

  • squad-strength-matching

   - it is annoying to play with friends. simple, if there is no other 3 man squad online atm i will never get a match (looks like). my personal record are 40 minutes in a 3 man squad.

 

i always fought for fixed tiers. But i cannot say something about the tiers directly played by the community. this is something the devs should have statistics of. and with this in mind i have no idea if it would work with the current playerbase.

Fighting other squads is completely fine but i DO NOT want to wait for another squad to queue just so that my squad can get a game, it’s silly. 

 

As far as feedback goes, people suggested a lot of things yet this is what you pick out of all that?

I think this MM does more harm than good. They should just remove it, make it all random and with fixed tiers again, as it was in 0.7 when there was a 5,000 playerbase.

 

Nobody is going to play your game if you have 5-20 min average waiting times.

 

You are implementing systems designed for a 10,000+ playerbase game in a game with 500-2000 active players. It cannot work.

 

With such small numbers, you should make your priority getting a game asap, because we are fighting same players over and over anyway. Might just as well make waiting time 30 seconds instead of 10 minutes, we still get the same teams, there is no difference.

Update 1 is on the way, in this update for SecCon we have lifted the rank requirement to 7th. As well as fixed some bugs. We continue our work on improving the SecCon, don’t worry.

Its only a screenshot, but: Its not taken during SQ. In SQ the T5 queue-bar is exploding. The Region is set to “ANY”
