Star Conflict OBT v 0.8.1 update #1

Star Conflict OBT v 0.8.1 update #1

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug that led to client crashes during battles on some configurations.

  • Improved camera behaviour in combat.

  • Fixed high-rating players balancing (previously, all high-rating players could end up in one team).

Miscellaneous

  • Considering the length of server maintenance, we have decided to give each and every player additional 3-day premium-licences.

What is “high-rating players”? Win rate or destroyed ship rating or played games or something else?

Bug fixes

  • Improved camera behaviour in combat.

In other words, camera is going back to the way it was?

In other words, camera is going back to the way it was?

No, it will be adjusted to be usefull again.

What part of “the camera is too close to the ship” do you not understand?

We want to be able to zoom out to the level previously attainable. NOT what we have now. Frigates are still taking up 25-50% of the frakkin screen.

This issue is not going to be fixed until it is put back the way it was. Period.

So no fix for the Mouse X Axis problem and Cant guide Torpedo on long range frigates yet.

I assume you guys discovered it a little too late for this patch and it should be in the next patch. Guess more waiting for me to play this awesome game again.

Well… Back to Torchlight ll for a while. I will check back again later. Keep up the great work guys! :fed012:

Could you try to switch the camera mode in game? This seems to help in certain cases.

What was wrong with the old camera distance? I don’t understand why it has changed… i don’t care about the chokplit (or whatever is the name, have not the time to check the vocabulary)

No, it will be adjusted to be usefull again.

But it is no usefull, he continue horrible. Put the zoom out back!

So when does this patch go live?

And please do not claim that it has, because I have been test flying my Hydra-2 and I still can’t see xxxx past the ship model.

Edit: Maintenance announcements just began about a minute after I posted this. Hopefully the Devs will have seen sense and fixed the bloody stupid “let me break your loot for you.” update as well. Calling the loot system “improved” is an insult to the players and a gross abuse of the English language.

hey guys. i dont like the ship outline thing at all it even harder to see your crosshairs when red ship is glowing… make red outline on crosshairs and target box as an option.

new loot system is basted style: here see a expi shild booster…ooh i use gold extract for win!..fail…debris only… makes me sad…

thx for a great game.

No, it will be adjusted to be usefull again.

well I held off on writing my Review on a new First Look on Star-Conflict.com waiting for a response. Well we Have a response. Simply put they do not care what the paying customers have to offer. I was hoping for a better response so I could live stream the new patch and to help you get a more positive customer base. I am sorry until you start listening to your customer base my reviews to the popular rating sites for mmo’s will be a 3 out of 10. I know of another company developing a game like this one that will be open beta with in 2 months and I have been an Alpha Tester on. This is truly sad this game had so much potential now it will drift away like all the rest. Good luck in the future.

Lol, devs are trying to pull money out of everything right now. xxxx sad.

FIX YOUR GAME AND PEOPLE WILL PAY

STOP RUINING IT.

Hell, even after you guys basicly destroyed all of my progress I would still be willing to pay IF THE GAMEPLAY WAS GOOD. But you guys did a GREAT job at DESTROYING your game ENTIRELY.

Sector conquest > useless
Looting > practicly useless now
Ship roles > less than a good idea, even worse implementation

Ship specials > bad idea, even worse implementation

Do I need to go on?

edit: @CommanderX32, and what game might this be?

edit2: Have you devs thought about hiring a marketing director/QA department/Game Designer to tell you you are on the wrong path?

I am only a Alpha Tester ATM but I have talked with the Developers the annoucement will be made in 2 weeks on mmorpg.com and gamespot.com. I am sorry for you guys as I stated before this game had great potential. If this game is still around when they release the open beta I will be sure to post.

So they are doing Maint again and still not fixing the problem. Why don’t you guys just leave your servers offline and not restart them until you think thru what everyone is saying. I read some horrible reviews this morning. My opinion I would just tell everyone we need to keep the servers off until we hire the proper people to help develop the game. It’s kinda sad the response I got on my ticket was we are sorry to lose a customer we will fix the game upon it’s release. with what everyone is saying here I doubt your release date will be valid. I cant see this game out of beta and I cant see any server population staying. Good Job guys for driving people away from your game.

ffs roll back that camera this is just xxxx…you cant see enything what is hapening around you :F

Yeesh, constructive criticism at it’s worst. I haven’t been playing long enough, nor in the community enough (this is actually my first post) to really know what the state of things are as far as staffing. I make no assumptions, but I have been a dedicated gamer for twelve years and I enjoy what I’ve experienced of SC thus far (Tier 4). There is another - clearly outspoken - community about the camera zoom option, and I consider myself in that group. Clear game mechanic problems should be at the top of the priority list; if you can make a change during this maintenance time while everyone is already “out of game until an uncertain amount of time” mode, a lot of - clearly frustrated - people will be back on your side. If not, get on that one, because it has an effect on players from second one of combat. I read through the test notes and I made a comment to my friend about how nearly every change was for the better and they were all major, and the problems that weren’t resolved simply remain. To read patch notes like that is  rare.  There aren’t many game breaking mechanics to bomb this one unless you lose your community.

This is still in beta, and balance isn’t something hugely refined in any MMO I’ve played (and yes, I’ve gone through NDA closed betas and launch days) until… well, even EverQuest is going through changes and that was, what, _ March 16, 1999 ? World of Warcraft,  2004? EverQuest II, also in  2004 _? “Beta test”, by definition, means “a limited release of a product with a goal of finding bugs before the final release.” I’m not a fanboi, but I call them when I see them.

Oh, and thanks for the license, I used my starter gold to buy one at the worst time.

//edit: My mistake: it’s in alpha. Shows how much I’ve paid attention to anything but the actual in-game experience. But yeah, alpha, which comes before beta. There’s not much more to be said.

No, it will be adjusted to be usefull again.

I don’t think that answer really helps anyone. You may as well have said “shut up and go play it… but you’re going to have to wait until we’re finished before that.”

Agreed. Looting was already tedious enough.

Would you be able to pm me the name of this game?

You’re right there mate, its painfully obvious that someone somewhere in the decision making chain just wants more money and doesn’t give a rats xxxx about the people who play this game. With the new loot system, its confirmed it.

Then again, sometimes I wonder if I can blame them? A lot of the community on SC is or was a bunch of effing obnoxious and pretentious F2P gamers that expect everything for free and to be how they want despite contributing nothing but badly thought out complaints. (I’m not saying that every F2P player is, but, if I offended you by what I said then there’s your answer.)

But it still pisses me off, because there are people out there like myself who have put £30 or more into the game, which is relative to how much you’d usually pay for a fully unlocked PC game!

It isn’t fair that paid players are getting the raw end of the stick like this, F2P players I can understand, but even them you do not want to piss off, they are potential customers and a player base to keep the game fluent for everyone.

The game even has a frigging pseudo-subscription service - licence!!

Star conflict has SO much more potential , it is easily my space-game dog fighter of choice for the gameplay value, but grotesque changes like, removing galactic standards from 5th day reward and adding a loot system that siphons your galactic standards into a “gold sink” is just down right cheeky and pisses me off.

I honestly don’t believe the current development team and or publisher have their players at the top of their priority list. What kind of rational level headed person would think that showing people loot and giving them 1/10 chance to receive it, 3/10 if you pay, would make anybody happy? In a 2 hour gaming sesh yesterday, I saw 3 or 4 purples and got none, I even did the 30% one once with my galactic scraps.

I would much rather just not see the loot until I am entitled to looting it, its tormenting.

Oh and its the same in PVE on the purple dot, 1/10 or 3/10.

Honestly, if things continue down this path, once Star Citizen comes out (or anything on par with Star Conflict minus the constant wallet-pilfering stratagems), Star Conflict won’t even be my go-to game for quick dog fighting fun in the future. Not because I found the game boring, but out of principle.

Finally, I actually really like the patch for the most part, even the camera angles - because before, people got too much view. Frigates, if you don’t like pilots going into your blind spot, hug an asteroid and stick close to team mates. Try using ctrl too. Tbh, the game is asking for a little bit more skill from people and situational awareness oh yeah, and teamwork!

:edit: I apologise that this is mostly rant, but it is what it is and I feel I’m pointing out what I see.
