Skill roof at T5 for various ships

What are folk’s thoughts on the easiest / most difficult ships to play at T5 ? Most helpful to a team? How about differences in these lists between T3 and T5? I’ve recently started playing last week and am curious to hear some of these thoughts from more experienced players. I personally have a couple of ships up to T3 and have a rating that bounces between 1100 and 1200.

flat out all t5 teams MUST have a good engie. Gunship is very good too

T5 Tacklers and Snipers are one of the hardest to master, IMO

This depends on the individual I believe.

There are inty pilots who suck at frigates

There are frigate truckers who puke after a few minutes flying inty

I personally find fighters very hard to do - neither fast nor tanky - yet I see gunship pro’s raping me repeatedly with their Singularity Orelus vs my T5 lol

Depends on your aptitude for the various classes

Most helpful to a team?

Every ship role can help the team out. This is up to the pilot and what he does with his modules and where he do them.

If you are in a corp that focuses on squads - you should ask them what they need

if you are in a casual corp - you will often see and maybe squad with the same group of people. You guys should discuss roles and get to know each other’s playstyle to figure out who can do what to help the team.

But if you are like me and pug solo most of the time - minority roles can often be the most useful in random matches. And it varies between tiers and matches.

Alot of the time Engineers are neglected. Other times, tackler. A properly fitted command is rare almost every tier.

Interceptors however do well in 4 out of the 6 game modes on account of their mobility and beacon capture speed. People fly them but half the time, not constructively.

Nothing stands out as THE team ship role as every ship can contribute to the win in their own way.

In the end - Its’ down to the pilots and what they do with themselves in a match that often decides whether his team wins or loses.

-_- t3 after 1 week…

Have 3 ships in t2 half purps, half blues. Was dominating and got bored.

IMO, if you are looking at which line in your ship tree to focus on you may be thinking about it all wrong. Although you may hear that Gunships are OP at T5 and start to grind out your gunship line, a new patch comes along and wham… gunship got nerfed for one reason or another and Guards start to dominate. Then you spend a few months on Guards… and wham… new patch… Guards got nerfed … and ECM is OP…      you get my drift…

Just play what you want and get good at it… that’s the best way to help your team and have fun playing the style you like.

But you know that it’s not true, right? There is no guard in the Empire lineup, so they wont ever dominate. Commands and Engies are not there to dominate, that leaves the Gunships, ECMs and Recons.

I settled on one or two ship types I enjoy a while ago – I’m simply genuinely interested in how people view them at T5.

Oh man, were you in 0.8-0.9 era? when Jericho Guards were running around in T5 with ~100k survivability and Fed Guards running over everything? With the way our devs balance this game, any role can get out of hand for any faction (Like Emp Gunships right now)

you just need skill first :nods:

Or a good ping!

I was around, just not in T5, but heard the QQ in game and on the forums. The dev team is very keen on keeping frigballs down as i see it now.

Yes they are, which is why only one side per match is allowed to frigball now and the other, usually mine, tries to counter with inty spam…
