I don’t see how that would scare new players. Maximum and optimal range are very easy concepts to understand. Just add a section for it under the help tab so that confused players can look it up.

That be true if we had it simply the way you say, but
a) We have curved reflector that cuts by 50% and then if you combine it wil Horizon/2-2 implant, final max - optimal ratio will be ruined due to way it stacks
b) Weapons with explosive mechanics do not have a separation of optimal range and maximum range, in their case Optimal range = Maximum range.
c) “We say” Optimal range is 33% less than maximum on forums, in discussions but it is not where clearly presented to new pilots, when some one joins the game all he sees is Maximum range, that is it, he has no idea that his guns do 70% less dmg at that point, and that there is a magic optimal range.

Between the fact that full ship info is not the default for the reason of not scaring new players and the fact that you’re afraid this would scare the players, I think if such information were linked with full ship info, all parties would be happier.
Wait what? I always thought optimal range is 75% of maximum. All my calculations have been wrong :008j:
