Ships stuck in battle

The “Current ships are still in battle” message when you get out of a doomed game sucks. What’s the point??? I mean… If you’re going to lose a battle because your crew decide to go AFK, disconnect, or just be plain stupid, you need a way out that won’t make you have to wait 5-10m for the game to end. I have also found that occasionally, after completing a PvE mission, no matter what the outcome was, you will be stuck in battle for about 10-15 minutes. This happened to a squad of mine after winning captured Dreadnaught. Please remove this useless feature. It serves no point but to aggrivate and just slows down the already tedious and time-consuming process of leveling up ships.

I have played games that didn’t have a penalty for leaving matches early. The result was half of the losing team would disconnect as soon as they realized they were fighting a stronger team, leaving the remaining players to fend for themselves until they too gave up and quit.

 

We really need this mechanic to keep games from simply falling apart like that. Can you imagine what would happen if this penalty was removed and a team of piecemeal randoms came up against some pilots from ESB, WPK, or NASA? The battlefield would be empty before the fight hit the halfway mark.

 

I understand it is frustrating not being able to use your ships, but the entire point of this mechanic is to encourage players to stick it out, even if it sucks. There may be “doomed” games, but you can’t expect to win them all. Your teammates are independently thinking humans, so there will be times they won’t cooperate and lose the game. But that’s no excuse to disconnect and leave them without another pilot.

 

I’ve known too many gamers who quit before the match’s end to ‘punish’ the winning team. It forces players to change sides to balance the game because the losing team left. It cheats the winning team of their victory, and it’s poor sportsmanship.

That sounds more like a bug. I believe someone may have already reported it.

I think there were a few that have been deleted or something, too. I’d prefer it if the punishment for abandoning battle were something different from this. This seems a bit too easy to bug out in a ridiculous manner.

No, that means you’re that xxxx who sacrificed his team for whatever stat existed.  Were you screwed over?  Maybe, but did you file a bug report?!   I doubt it.  I had a PvE recently where I almost, within two seconds, helped to recover enough of my team to win when I could have sacrificed in a premium ship to restart quicker.  It’s not about statistics or pride.  It’s about loyalty to those willing to die for me without knowing my name.

I imagine you do say it from experience.  You’re officially a beta tester.  Your team’s loss is in essence a MM failure, even though MM may not expect a 100% win rate.  Yes, a bug exists for when a battle is completed and ships are tied up into the queue.  That is seperate from “my team seemed to suck so I quit, help me.”  I think the disconnect punishment is mild.  I do support those disconnected due to genuine network issues.  I’ve often been one of them.

Never thought of this. I’ll start doing this. Is there any way I can get the report as well? I’m interested to see exactly what percentage if disconnects are actually manual, and not network. I know that my network kicks me from your servers all the time. XD I usually just re-join when I can tho.

I’m stuck ! My computer just crashed then when i came back i noticed all my ships are currently in battle and since that i can’t no longer play :/. Please do something. Is it a bug ?

Give it 10 or 15 minutes. If your ships are still ‘in battle’ then this is a bug and you should file a bug report.

 

Otherwise, the server views your computer crashing as an intentional disconnect, and has locked your ships in the battle until it is finished.

This is the reason we need a permanent “rejoin battle” button instead of a simple dialogue that vanishes forever when you click no on accident or simply don’t get it.

I would like to counter.  I am sick of these PVE runs where a guy in a recon goes and kills everything while I am forced to take on all of the NPC’s.  There is no teamwork involved when someone gets all the credit for hiding and killing the objectives.  I think a 2 minute or 5 minute time out should suffice.
