ship synergy
basically, its good to have synergy. basically, its not too much rewarding to fly with a ship for a long time. once you’ll get full syn, you dont have any reason to continue, unless you get in some personal love with that ship :)
i consider my self as a regular player; i get through the game without big troubles, now in T3 (r.8) harvesting syn, creds etc. but i believe that there should be a difference between ppl who buy creds, get through the ship tree without any relationship to any ship, followed by guys who fly a ship a little but in the moment new one is available, forgets the previous and guys, who loves to play one specific ship.
current syn levels does not affect the last group. i know that they are a minority, but rewarding pilots who belongs to one ship is good, i believe.
leave current syn requirement for buying next ship, but give ships a LOT of more syn levels, I believe about 20 will be OK.
who does not want to play with that ship once new one is available, no problem. you will have to unlock lvl 6-8 of syn and get a new one. but why not giving a real masters of particular ship possibility to gain more syn than - in fact - the same guy have on the ship he has no relation to it anyway?
i will use car analogy - if you use your car only sometimes and then get rid of it (syn lvl 5 ±), you will not be able to find out all the little nuances it have. if you use your car often (syn lvl 10 ±), you can drive it with lower gas consumption, know about near every little bug in it etc. this is in accordance with the current syn game system.
but if you ride your car for a 10 years, you will know about every screw it have, every whimsy it have and so on. this should be lvl 20 syn.
and after lvl 10 of synergy, you should gain some specialties for your ships instead of +hp and + shields. f.e. plasma webs should not only damage ship, but also slow it down by 5% for every syn lvl after 10. and at final lvl 20 you will be able to affect two ships before CD starts. (this is just an example, there has to be a lot of testing).
it will not force you to play that specific ship, but give player a reason to stay with one ship… if there will be more synergy, i will never leave my machete-s with hails
one “bad” issue is, that it will make much more differences between new guys and vets. well, its about a big consideration to implement system like that.
weapon synergy
as well as ships have synergy, the same should be at the weapon system. the more I use specific weapon, the more accurate/more damaging/shooting at longer range i get.
simply, yet functional. i suppose there is no big explanation needed, it should work at the same system as ship synergy (up to lvl 10 + dmg, range, - spread, after lvl 10 some specials).
