Server Region Settings

Then tell me one thing:

What are people supposed to do who simply can’t/don’t want to play with higher pings, yet are continuously thrown onto servers abroad during the only times they can play the game? Right now the only solution these people have: to not play the game.

I think the solution the devs would want people to pick seems clear? Unless they prefer people rather not play the game.

As opposed to: to not play the game, OR to play the game but with longer queue times.

That is a very short-sighted analysis of what I said.

The foreign servers generally give playable ping (maybe not playable on an interceptor, but easily playable in a fighter or frigate). You should adapt to flying in high ping. Get used to it, since you can’t guarantee getting all US servers (or whatever is local for the player). Learn to fly in high ping, and you will fly far better than you thought possible when you do get a local server. Not playing is far from the only solution. Sure, you avoid not playing on foreign servers, but you also miss out on having fun playing a fun game. The better solutions are, like I said above, adapt to flying in high ping, and play in your local primetime more often. If you are unable to play in your local primetime, then you should adapt to flying in high ping.

If you don’t want to fly in foreign servers, I understand. I too would rather play on only US servers, but I have realized it is impossible (until the player base increases). The sooner you accept the reality of the situation and the sooner you adapt to playing in higher ping, the sooner you will have more fun and learn to enjoy the game for what it is, not what you want it to be.

Tell that to the people who DON’T WANT to play shooters with high ping. From my experience there are plenty of those, me included normally.

All this becoming a better pilot stuff is meaningless when it comes to that. All that really matters is how many former, current and potential future players are driven away by this unnecessary restriction, making the community even smaller than it already is.

It is not unnecessary, nor is it necessary. It is a part of the game that you have to live with. No one WANTS to play with high ping. There isn’t a large enough player base in this game to support making the “preferred region” selection into a “queue only for this region” selection. Until the player base increases, this feature would not work well. Most people I can think of would rather get a game (regardless of ping) than wait 15-30 minutes to get a game that lasts 5 minutes only to play with the ping they want.

Look at War Thunder. It has a huge player base, so it can support the “queue only for this region” selection. If Star Conflict were to get that kind of player base, I would fully support the idea of “queue only for this region” selections. I don’t support it now because the player base is far too small for it to work and the game is fun regardless of ping (to an extent). At no time have I ever WANTED to play in high ping, but I have never quit playing the game because I rarely get US servers.
