I suggest there be made an option to send your cargo to the dock without sending your ship. Much like the “return to dock” option but simply for cargo.
Also premium ships should be able to use this function once for free. (Given they have a built-in duplicator.)

What’s wrong with the drone in this way?
It’s a bit difficult to explain lol xD He means the duplicator bonus from premium ships and duplicator in general to be able to use as cargo drone in esc menu in OS. I hope i explained it well.

I will simplify.
You can dock with your cargo by using a Duplicator.
If you add an option to actually send your cargo away (-1 Duplicator), you will still remain in Open Space, thus not losing time, searching for a cargo drone to continue getting resources.

Or we could just have a cargo drone at every gate save for home base sector.

I would prefer having more cargo drones at more gates than with using duplicators.
