Rundown of the "Secret Project" ships (visuals only)

Alrighty, my thoughts on our new toys. In no particular order…

 

Kraken:

Nice to see this actually keeps with the naming convention for a change!

 

Kraken looks like a miniaturised battleship, and that’s pretty awesome. I don’t think it needs quite so much junk stuck onto the sides, but overall I like what they’ve done with this ship. Makes me want to put on a bad Russian accent and declare I’m firing the Yamato cannon at people.

 

Cyning:

What? Are you making up words now? What’s a “Cyning” when it’s at home?

 

… old English word for king, or “of royal blood”. Huh. Well played.

 

When I saw the concept art I did not have this pegged as an Empire ship. To me, this is what Nyx should have been. It’s a nice design overall, and it fits with the Empire theme far better than the Mjolnir ever did, but I can’t help but feel this ship belongs in someone else’s roster. But that aside, I like it and I wouldn’t object to owning one.

 

Ronin:

I would have killed to be in the design brief that produced this ship.

“Hey guys! People liked our weird Mauler design, but some people felt it was too boxy. We need something like the Mauler, but more rounded and organic.”
“Satan’s xxxx?”

“Perfect!”

 

You know, I can see a pattern forming here; I really like the design of the Ronin, but it just doesn’t feel like a Jericho ship. It’s too far from the template. Yes, I can see elements of the Razor and Mauler in there, and I do love the Razor to bits, but it doesn’t feel quite right alongside an Inquisitor to me. Still, it’s a minor gripe, and I look forward to seeing Satanic xxxx flying all over T5 in the near future.

 

Saw One:

*golf clap*.

 

Peregrine:

Reminds me of the Wraith from Starcraft. That or someone just took the top half of a Firemoth light mech and added engines. Not a fan.

 

Jaguar:

Someone with too much time and money on their hands decided that they wanted to fly a Lynx in Tier 5, and built this. And that’s kind of brilliant. I think this might be my favourite ship of the entire Secret Project list. It’s obviously a Federation ship, it’s got callbacks to the original Fed ship, but it looks modernised and up-gunned with bigger engines and more armour. It reminds me of when car manufacturers bring out their latest model that is inspired by the car that made them rich thirty or forty years ago. I want this ship, and I think it might well be the first Secret Project ship I get (sorry, Octopus!).

Kraken.

It looks like a Caldari Drake. But still pretty awesome, much better design than the Dragon hull.

 

Cyning.

Ugh… I never thought I would say this but, I’m not making one of those. It is FUGLY, boxy, bad textured and plain. And still the special warps are bad (the standard one is much better!) and the bonuses are meh… I will keep my Jarl, thanks.

 

Saw One.

Once again, it is very similar to other iconic spaceship, the Mandalorian Firespray patrol boat, being the “Slave 1” the most famous ship for that model. I find it interesting but I’m afraid of the big frontal profile. I will make one for sure, the bonuses look interesting.

 

Peregrine.

Take the Wolf hull, add some weird wings and make it a small bird of prey. Not bad on the looks, but once again, it is too big for being competitive. The forks, even being ugly, are great for this.

 

Ronin.

Reminds me of a plasma gun in a game I played long ago. Looks cool, with all the fins and the rotating ball in the xxxx. Also, it is worth to see the ship going over 100k survivability with full tank setup.

 

Jaguar.

Hands down the most beautiful ship in the pack. It just feel right. Almost got the first place in the most beautiful ship in the game. Still the Tiger hull have the place…

Kraken:

Hooboy this is one busy looking ship design with antenna and other bits poking out every which way. The ‘coils’ in the center I think are pretty awesome though. Actually looks like the meat of Disintegrator module showing. It really does look like a mini-battleship.

 

Cyning:

Engines that big make me feels like this ship should be on the Federation tree and hitting the speedcap with 0 effort. The rest of the ship is really sleek and styling with the extra bits of extended wings and flaps.

 

Saw One:

Jeyy ships sure are out there and weird. Love the Slave One shoutout.

 

Peregrine:

I think the wings of the ship come out just a bit too far for the size of the ship, but as Kost’s vid showcasing this ship, it’s undeniably sexy when in battle twirling about.

 

Ronin:

Paint it blue and we have a Mass Relay with guns! Very cool to oggle at in the hangar with all the moving and spinning bits.

 

Jaguar:

The most conventional looking ship and by far my favorite. I love how these engines look. I especially love mine done up with paint and insignia:

Cyning:

I’m not a fan. I much prefer the Jarl model that remind me of the vipers from Battlestar Galactica. This one… well it’s kindof meh.

 

 

Kraken:

Deserves it’s name as the terror of the oceans skies. I definitely has the empire feel about it, though being rather deceptive with it’s torp. (ah, those Empire spies stealing top secret technology from the Jericho familes!)

Love it, and I hadn’t realised it had those moving parts until kosty posted his video. I will definitely have to make one (in two years time maybe, once i have the monos…)

 

 

Jaguar:

Perfect ship. Definitely my favourite design out of all the ships in Star Conflict, even above the Octopus although it breaks my heart to say so. It is typical of the Federation design, and yet so much more at the same time. A mixture of old and new. Sleak and fast, with those powerful blue engines, it reminds me of the SR-71 Blackbird, modernised and modifed for space combat. I will definitely spend many hours flying this ship, just for the pleasure of flying something so beautiful!

Saw One :
I like the concept of a verticle ship, although it is a bit weird. I will probably make one just for fun, and make a decision as to whether I like it or not later.

 

 

Ronin:

Paint it blue or khaki and it would be a fed guard, with that elongated outline. I do love the flaps along the side which give it an organic feel. Is it alive? Is there actually a pilot in there? o.O And the ball, well what can I say… It’s lovely! Shame it looks like a xxxx overall ^^

The more I look at them, the more I think of the Robin, Saw One, Caltrop, Razor and Mauler as Cyber ships, rather than Jericho.

I like them all.

Panther (Tackler) looks the best for me.

Sadly, I cannot afford to buy them, because I got no fail-safe or test-drive option.

Cyning: underrated. I love the design, it looks like someone made it on their garage and it’s damn sexy.

 

Jaguar: overrated. It’s cool and that’s all.

 

Saw One: Love the design. Fits a lot the weirdness of Jericho.

 

Peregrine: meh, it’s got cool animations.

 

Ronin: looks like a mixture of Fed and Jericho aerodynamics.

 

Kraken: pretty sexy.

why ppl dont like the cyning. i find it fantastic. it is a recon, so ppl just put 2 huge engines and tied them together with a cockpit, mounting the weapons on the engine tubes themselves. simplicity in design and it looks elegant. what i dont quite like are all the fancy weird parts pointing everywhere from some ships(saw one maybe). yes there are no aerodynamics in space etc etc, but plane and naval like designs is what comes familiar and what most ppl love. also the animations of peregrine … cool idea but too much. it doesnt feel like a ship but like a mech suit in space :< so far my favorite is kraken by name and design(close to homeworld 2 ships) and ronin mostly by name and role :stuck_out_tongue:

Just in case you wondered what those Jericho pilots have got underneath those robes… turns out they have a LOT more cybernetic ‘parts’ than first thought. Inter-faction relations with the Jericho are hearby discouraged for the safety of all Empire and Federation pilots.
