Replace Sub Faction Loyalty With New Contract System

I LOVE the Scon lore. Armada, Wardens, Raid. But these are a remnant of an old mechanic that has no relevance with the current version of the game.

 

To make things simpler for casuals and minimize distractions from the core gameplay of Star Conflict; which is tactical pew pew, I propose a change from sub faction loyalty contracts to a neutral Achievement Based system for upgrading modules. Cost of upgrades can stay the same.

 

You dont need to sign up to a sub faction

You dont need to select a specific contract

Just fly your ship, play your game and when you have done a series of tasks enough times, game rewards you with loyalty vouchers.

It works exactly like achievements …

 

Example of Tasks:

 

 

— Wins —

Win 5 Battles = 3,000 vouchers = 1 hour cooldown

Win 10 Battles = 33,000 vouchers = 8 hours cooldown

Win 20 Battles = 73,000 vouchers = 12 hours cooldown

 

— Ships —

Destroy 10 Interceptors = 20,000 vouchers = 2 hours cooldown

Destroy 50 Interceptors = 110,000 vouchers = 18 hours cooldown

Destroy 10 FIghters

Destroy 50 Fighters

Destroy 10 Frigates

Destroy 50 Frigates

 

— Damage Assists —

Assist in destruction of 40 Ships

Assist in destruction of 80 Ships

Assist in destruction of 240 Ships

 

— Beacon —

Heal or Damage Beacons for 200 points = 2,400 vouchers = no cooldown

Heal or Damage Beacons for 1,000 points = 18,000 vouchers = 6 hours cooldown

Capture 3 Beacons

Capture 11 Beacons

Capture 50 Beacons

 

etc

etc

 

 

No Sub Faction to select or contracts to sign up for. Just fly your ship and play the game.

Once enough is accrued for a particular task you receive your voucher rewards. Counter resets, Timer starts.

 

Is this better than the current system?

How do we keep Sub Factions relevant elsewhere in the game? It’d be a shame to lose it.

The current contract system feels grindy and irritating. Earning loyalty like this will make every battle 100x more fun by not forcing us to perform chores in order to progress.

There should be an in-game and forum  “yes” or “no” pole on this vs. current  and see how it turns out.  It really does need to be reworked.

Most of the time I select the contracts I think I’m most likely to complete (e.g. kill X enemy ships, protect an ally). I don’t play many matches a day so it doesn’t affect me that much, but on days when I’m exceptionally free, the more specific contracts become a chore to complete.

The contract button has a little icon when you still have unselected contracts. While waiting for matches, I take a bit of time to browse the list of contracts and select the best ones.

True, but when you are distracted from a MM that takes forever and do other things (Internet surf, talk to Corp Mates, Etc) You can forget it.

Hm… I seem to have fewer distractions. I’m always actively trying to look for things to do while I wait for MM. I fly solo so I don’t have squadmates to chat with, I don’t understand Russian so I can’t talk to my corpmates (I don’t even know why I received the corp invite), and I don’t like the new hanger chat window so I don’t look at the general chat either.
