Recoil compensated cannon, a weird joke

Weapon that cause when fired a 200 kmh backward speed inpulse to the user, regardless of inital speed, shooting the gun makes you move faster than using postcombustion on the ship making up for a quite odd travel method

The weapon spread is LUDICROUS after 3 shots, its not possible to make 3 shot on the same target before, even when glued to it, you miss it half of the time if not more

The spread reducing time is also abysmall, causing the gun to be accurate only once or twice every 3 seconds

In PVP the weapon is prone to kill the user via collision while staying unsuited 75% of the time to engage anything

I think they took inspiration from Star Control 2’s Druuge Mauler which actually does move faster backwards by firing its massive gun, and yes it is a positive feature over there.

Similarly, I guess the idea here is to be able to keep distance to the enemy and occasionally dodge some attacks. The recoil could be reduced though, and I’d appreciate the related bugs to be fixed.

Also, I would slightly increase damage per shot, reduce maximum spread to 4, and reduce enemy mobility malus to 50%.

i just imagine someone using the recoil compensated cannon to dodge enemy attacks like in RWBY, anyone else here watch that show?

I can’t imagine a scenario where this cannon could be useful. It needs a huge damage boost to compensate its weaknesses.

it’s hilarious as f* tho, but i wasnt sure either what to think

maybe ppl need to try to use it that way

too bad the shinobi isnt a forward jump…

or as according to another thread, you still move backwards if you shoot backwards, so just turn the ship around and use it as mobility.

When I tested this gun out I was literally doing just this. I would cloak, turn around my LRF and just use the gun as a method of propulsion to get myself back into torp range because trying to use this thing as a legitimate weapon is kinda difficult, even with the 10km range since you just keep getting pushed back out of range.

You can stop a guard frigate trying to get a bomb to your beacon. You can snipe unsuspecting fighters and interceptors from 6+ km distance, and then hit them repeatedly due to the slowing effect. You can dodge cruise missiles and whatnot with the recoil.

But yeah, that’s about it. Needs buffs and toning down the silliness.

I can do the same with spec. module and Tachyon Charge…

They need to buff this cannon. For sure.

the basic idea of this weapon is not that bad, though

the weapon is funny, what is annoying is that when it hits an enemy ship it almost completely stops it(noticed on frigates so far) and kind of prevents moving in any way since it negates any acceleration you got since the last half second the first shot hit you. its basically a stunlock weapon. may need to get one and try it myself

Even better: it pushes you back no matter where you shoot. use look around and shoot back - it still pushes you back lol
