Would it be cool if certain ships had the ability to increase ramming damage (physical contact with another ship) or be protected against ramming hits (along with the collision compensator)?
It would work like if you reached a certain level your ramming output would be increased while damage to you from ramming would be decreased.
I think it would at another layer of fun and more fighting tactics. Tell me what you think.
This should go into Suggestions. Collision Compensator was working like this, decreasing damage to you, leaving the damage to the enemy (not amplifying, but still). Nowadays they patched it away, no idea why.
ramming is fun, why not (don’t think i would replace my other mods with it tho)
It’s not an active module or ship modifier you put on. It’s built into the ships stats and may or may not be given as soon as you buy it.
@fasz I only wanted to see how players would think. So far I have seen at least four players who have seen the topic and not said anything.
I wouldn’t like to see people ramming into Jeri ships and see them die instantly. Ships of R8 and below will be forced to use collision compensators to avoid this.

These sentences… ugh…
Obviously this would be balanced. Also trying to ram a Jericho Interceptor with low base hull is hard. Ramming a Jericho Frigate is easier but they still have ok hull strength. In the mean time, do you think the person getting rammed would stay still and not shoot?
Stop naysaying and grow some imagination balls

Ah, the pain! My puny 3k HP Command bullrushed by some huge xxxx fed frigate… easily killed instantly.

Can’t tell if that is sarcasm so please tell me.
If you are serious then, what the &^%@?
So easy to dodge a ramming frigate even if it’s fed.
Edit: Anyways if you are so worried about this jacxis why not make the bonuses for t3 and up? No0bs can hardly aim a ship anyways.
Take a Grizzly M, fit it so you can reach 400 m/s. Get a collision compensator, and RAM ALL THE THINGS!!!

Lol
In the mean time fighter runs to the left and because you fitted for raw speed your rotation is horrible and you miss or you get focus fired. Only thing that’d boost rotation is the E5 implant and the CC.
Ramming is really fun though. It wouldn’t overtake destroying ships with guns and lasers though. Hitting from a distance is always good but imagine using ramming as a tactic. That’d be hilarious.
Put ramming attack increases on inties and ramming defense increases on frigates. Fighters get a little of both. Of there would be some frigates that get a little bit of RAI and some Inties that get a little RDI.

Thats nothing, not long ago i killed a frigate by ramming it with an interceptor.
Lol

You overestimate the skill of people. I have killed a good number of players with fed frigates. And BTW, you don’t need to rotate to ram things who try to strafe away, just strafe aswell
In the good old days when warp gates still had short cooldowns, I have successfully warp-rammed and killed enemies when my glorified trashcan was on the verge of death. It was pretty effective, but cheap. Microwarp-ramming was also responsible for taking out a fair number of unsuspecting capts in recon mode as well, and that was when I was still in T2.
Lol I should try that next time.
Look at the video of rakza for the contest, you’ll be happy.
Actually, warping into someone should destroy you and leave him fairly intact. Collisions at high speed are “funny”, not intuitive at all.

It used to be the other way around. And I’ve lost track of how many times my Styx has killed allies and enemies alike in Abandoned Outpost by simply being in their way when they enter the warp gate or when they’re warping.
Me want an active ramming module for guard : give a burst forward at high speed for 1 / 2 sec (like micro warp engine mechanism but not as fast obviously :)wt ), make you immune to collision damage and inflict kinetic damages to enemy ships on the way equal to your current hull (maybe modifier mk1 100% hull => mk4 150%).
And as it’s collision damage, they are dealt to enemy hull directly unless you have rk9 implant to absorb it with shield and are reduced by collision compensator.
Nice idea for module. Maybe available at t4 but it shouldn’t be invincible to collision damage.
It should immune to explosion damage when activated. It makes the J9 implant actually useful besides if you drunk drive on an inty.
Boost maybe 450 meters at 700m/s for .5 seconds. Cool down is short but not short enough to be abused for traveling. Maybe like 15-30 seconds. You can’t rotate or strafe while using this module. Kind of like a charging bull.
It’s kind of like the plasma arc. Hard to use but extremely effective when you use it right.
But of course the other guard modules are so useful.

Like a plasma arc, but more like a compressed shield in front of you.
