I never had much issues playing T1 games, but from T2 upwards, I started experiencing frequent and extreme FPS hangs. Usually, the screen will freeze for several seconds at a time, if I’m lucky, it’ll last for about five seconds, but sometimes, especially as my ship is spawning, the screen will freeze for up to 20 seconds. It’s happened during firefights, costing me kills (never cost me a ship, yet), beacon captures and bomb plantings. Other times, the FPS will freeze up while I’m maneuvering between asteroids, resulting in some annoying collisions, or at the very least, causing me to spin out of control because I can’t actually see or control where I’m going.
My system specs are:
Windows 7 64-bit (Boot Camp on MacBook Pro - I have much worse issues if I try to run the game directly from Mountain Lion)
Intel Duo Core 2 CPU 2.4 GHz
2 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT 256 Dedicated VRAM
I play on minimum settings. The only one of Star Conflict’s system requirements that my computer doesn’t meet is the VRAM, but that shouldn’t be causing such a huge issue, considering that I’m also able to play Hawken and MechWarrior Online on the same computer, both of which have requirements that exceed my specs in VRAM but also in other areas, but don’t have the same sort of performance issues. And then there’s the fact that the game runs quite smoothly on T1 games (on maximum settings). I find it weird that I would suddenly experience these FPS hangs on games with a few more players on minimum settings.
