While typing in the chat during a game it frees up the mouse cursor and you can hover over icons to bring up info about them. In case you encounter something else you don’t recognise.

I wish it were more like Freelancer, where you change from normal mouse to drag-the-ship mouse control with a single key. I really hate i have to open chat to do it, its like a workaround, and not a perfect one for that.
