Hey guys was wondering if someone could shed a little light onto this for me. I’m trying to find out exactly how experience is calculated in the game. At first i thought it was based on the ship you are usings faction. But that appears to be synergy. Then I thought well perhaps you could only earn experience for the faction that you choose. But that didn’t seem to make sense either because I had obviously been getting xp for other factions at certain times. Then I figured it may be based on the contract that you get. But that too doesn’t seem to make any sense because that would essentially limit what you can get in the game. For example say I wanted to get the blue (i assume this is faction rated) Missiles, according to the missiles you have to be rank three in armada, so by picking up a contract for armada you slowly gain xp for that contact. What happens when in this case, you want to get those missiles unlocked but at the same time you want to be shooting for another factions ship. Say for example the Hercules 2. If this is how the system works you would be limited to going for ships in armada and not able to get any advancement in empire or whatever it is.
IF anyone could shed some light on this for me I’d greatly appreciate it.
The system in SCon took me a while to wrap my head around, but hopefully this will help you understand it better than I did when I started.
There are three things for which a pilot can earn “experience” for:
Experience - this goes towards your ship’s synergy. At the end of a battle, your total experience gained will be allocated to whatever ships you used in that match.
Reputation - this goes towards factions. Leveling up your faction gains you access to ships in the ship tree.
Loyalty - this goes towards subfactions. Loyalty can only be earned by completing contracts. This is what you need to pay attention to if you wish to unlock ship modules.
The differentiation between Reputation and Loyalty is what encourages people to switch up their contracts. Each faction has two subfactions, and by taking contracts from a certain subfaction, you automatically start earning Reputation with that faction. For a small fee (of credits), you can bounce between subfactions whenever you like.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

Welcome to Star Conflict. Happy Grinding.
p.s. adding to zeik’s info, loyalty are earned via contracts mostly. you can get some from loot drops and the login commitment bonus. that means sub-faction loyalty really takes awhile to rank up compared to the other 2 exp so make sure you fly with as many contracts on and spend some time in warehouse looking at Mk.III modules to plan ahead.
