Me and my friend have been playing a few days now and just thought about something…
When our weekly free subscription period runs out, how will we be able to progress in the game? As far as I understand it currently gives about +50% in both reputation and credit income.
Well, as you happen to die a couple of times per game, you pay a bit of repair costs. I’ve just reached T3 and usually my repair costs are around 40k per game. My total income per game is around 100k or so, but if my subscription ends it will be greatly reduced leading to my question: Will people who don’t wanna invest real money in the game even be able to progress?
Let’s say you die a couple of times in a game and end up with just a few kills and/or objective take-overs, then won’t it be a probability that you just lost more money than you earned…? In that case players will reach a stand-still and pretty much never be able to buy themselves new stuff or new ships at all.
Is this meant to be or is it just a “little” thing you developers want to check out? Of course I see why you want as many subscribers and people who invest money in your game as possible, but they already recieve a couple of benefits if they choose to pay. It would be nice for us casual gamers if we still could progress (and therefore keep us in the game) when our free “bonus-week” ends.
Some higher ranked players didn’t paid a penny before. You can play t1-t2 without any troubles. At t3 it may be difficult if you are not skilled player. If you are pro, you won’t meet any problems even at t4 without license.
I believe that the scenarios come into play when it comes to playing for free.
One T3-4 scenario victory gave me little over 300k money (little over 150k without license), and as you can only die max 3 times in there, the repairs wont ever be that huge. Even on failed attempt i would guess that you’ll make at least 30k profit as long as you get past part 1. But don’t fail (make your own group with friends).
Spacepocket> So my example above states that I’m a worthless player and therefore needs to pay real money to be able to advance in the game? Seriously?
I’ve read several other threads and it looks that the problem gets even worse at T4, when repaircosts can go up to like 100k for ONE death in a game.
Zerk> So you agree with Spacepocket that you’ll need to be a skilled player to be able to advance in the game and actually earn some credits while playing? I don’t really see me as either a pro or worthless player, but sometimes things go wrong and you die a couple of times. You shouldn’t be punished to LOSE credits due to a bad matchup or a team that’s hard to work together with.
Vilmu> So a non paying player should be spending their time with scenarios to earn money, and now and then try his luck in an arcade match and eventually lose his hard earn credits…?

I disagree. You may play and get your fun at T2 untill you earn enough skill and money to play at T3 and T4. Also you may do scenarios. License is saving your time, nothing more. You can play different factions at T2 or scenarios too, so you wont be bored a lot. You may grind T2 forever and train your factions to 15 rank if you wish. Is it an advance or isn’t it? I think that it is, but slow, yes!
Also, during beta everything may change. Premium stuff isn’t an exception.
