Question about faction leveling

I thought I had a good grasp of this until a few patches ago. I would appreciate if someone can explain it to me.

I was at level 8 fed which unlocked implants through level 8. The patch came and removed the loyalty tracking and

I have have not unlocked anything higher since. Did I miss something with how it works now?

Do I need a level 9 ship to get the level 9 implants?

Do I need to quit spending all my loyalty on upgrades until I reach the next level?

Or just explain to me how it works because I am missing a key piece of information that will make me feel smarter. And that’s what is all about anyway. So could someone answer my narb questions?

yes, each level unlocks the corresponding rank of implants.

There are no more “Contract levels”, you unlock them as you buy ships in that Faction. Ie, Rank 6 Federation ships unlock both Vanguard and Armada Contracts, etc…

 

You do need a ship of a certain Rank to unlock all the implants below that and they will only work on ships of that rank and above. Ie, a Rank 9 Implant will NOT work on Rank 8 and below ships.

 

Levelling up now requires grinding Synergy. Upon reaching a certain level of Synergy with a certain ship, you can buy the next one with Credits.

So the contracts are pretty much just for upgrades now.

You just need to buy a ship of the next rank. Once you buy a rank 9 ship you will be rank 9 in that faction.

 Your faction rank is tied to your highest ship rank within that faction so when you buy rank 6 federation craft you become rank 6 in federation (unlocking contracts at that rank and if it is your highest rank, unlocking implants for all 3 factions)

 In order to buy a next ship you have to bring previous ship in a tree to a required synergy level to unlock next one in chain (that number is stated within the ship tree over the progression lines
