rapid fire lasers that require less energy and heat than traditional lasers , but sacrifice range

And rotary cannons that have extremely high rates of fire , but low heat costs and very limited range , also the shots spread out at longer distances

You should have a small kinetic rotary gun the bypasses shields for small hull damage.
