Pulsars Range and itnerferance

I have a qualm about Pulsars. They can attack you through objects. This makes no sense when the game devs clearly programmed that part out of the boss in PVE missions. If I am on the other side of an object that is well over 30 times the size of the ship i’m in, I don’t think it should have the full effect or even reach you for that matter.  That or I would suggest PVE allow the pulsar to work through objects.

Pulsar doesn’t hit you through objects… if it does then it’s a bug.

well then the last fifty times I have been hit with a pulsar it has bugged. it is 100% of the time, not periodically. It happens every time.

When someone uses pulsar I hide behind rocks or any kind of object out there, and I don’t get hit, idk what’s happening to u, but you should make a screenshot if it happens, so the devs can work on it.

Pulsars do NOT hit through map objects (rocks and “man-made” areas, Beacons, Stations and other ships (it works, but it’s very fidgety). Any map objects that move (map debris, small rocks, ship debris) will still let the Pulsar through.

Also lag.

In PVE the Bosses Pulsar goes through the Static Barrier… But I have never seen it through Objects… as soon as I hear the words DANGER I run SKARED behind something big and SOLID.

Afaik pulsar ignores SB, be it in PvE or PvP.

I kinda facetank the punisher boss with my Styx. Admittedly the damage I take is slightly more than my regeneration, but usually I can last long enough to win the match alive.

Pulsars do not ignore the Barrier, afaik. The Boss’ Pulsar is a heavy-duty one, quite the massive upgrade from the regular Guard Pulsars. Its only deterrence is solid map objects and Stations.

O_o hontoni-jinjja-truly? I guess I can relook at my engie loadout again and see if I have space for a SB. I do recall the old SB (when they were supposed to have limited durability but didn’t) being unable to block pulsar; I used it to defend against guards coming my way but their pulsar got through anyway.

And apologies to OP for the wrong info ><

I might be wrong, but it did look the way I mentioned. Seeing as I don’t play Engineers, I wouldn’t know for sure…

Which brings up an interesting delima …  With a limited number of active slots (lets say 4) …    You should have your standard Shield Healer (1) Hull Healer (2) Energy Healer (3) and then you Autonomous Shield whatever it is called.   What do you replace … to use the static barrier ?

Sorry as this maybe is considered slightly off the orginal topic…

Good question. Because I don’t like the build my Styx had when I used SB.

I drop the station on my styx personally

In the state it is right now, mobile barrier is a most useless module on an Engineer. Terrains and positioning is the key, as usual

The Barrier just adds another layer of defense against the enemy at range. If the enemy is right on top of you, yes, you’re in deep xxxx and a Barrier isn’t gonna help you much.

If an engineer in a place where he can not break a LOS on an enemy at range, he is simply in wrong position, barrier doesn’t add anything plus it dies in a matter of milliseconds when enemy sees a wild engineer wide in the open.

It’ll save you from the constant barrages of Coil Mortars, as well.

Idk, I’m just trying to make up excuses, I don’t even fly Engineers. I do know that I am extremely grateful when I see a Barrier on the field to save my sorry Guard xxxx from dying.

Your guard will be much-much happier if it had Repair and Charging station through the whole fight on it.

That’s what team mates are for. I still need 2-3 Engies to get me to full hp, again, lol

I’m unsure of how standard energy is.  I always fit it, but I know it’s not too common.  I only fit it because it’s helped me while flying other ships, even though I like that it does cancel out the energy drain on the active heals.  My fourth is actually a hull station, since hull healing is so slow on a Styx.  It’s only Mk.2 while I have an old Mk.4 shield station but I feel a little more comfortable with a hull station.  I’m tempted to change it to a warp gate though, but that four minute recharge is too long.

I’ve used it while retreating to gain a little extra time of lack of enemy fire, but it has minimal help on most maps.  The best you can do with it and give yourself a little extra hiding spot with visibility.  The concept’s still good but in practice the other options are still better.  It can work in PvE because of the bots’ programming but heals are generally more important there anyway.
