Has no one considered the fact that a Jericho has much less time to react before losing the majority of his/her health than any other race? Hit with a few deadly blasts, they can lose most or all of their strength before they can react. Once their shields are down, they are finished. For empire, they can maneuver before even losing their shields sometimes, which puts them at a huge advantage.
Does this make sense? Maybe there can be a mechanic that resets every 15 or so seconds WITHOUT receiving damage that gives 100% resistance to 2500 points of damage or something that follows a time constraint. This wouldn’t be overpowered, in my opinion; in fact, it would kind of mimic a small diffusion shield with a set amount of “energy.” This could give Jericho ships the amount of time to react without losing too much shield strength just to fight back.
i totally agree, once a jericho ships’ shield is down i know theres not much health left on it since its shield makes up like 2/3 of its full health and i could kill it pretty easily, empire on the other hand, shield only makes up 1/4 of its total health so i know that if an empire ships shield is down, its not time to go on a rampage because it probably still has around 25k hull strength left(talking about t5) and it is not even close to dying yet
I guess another way to think of it is, imagine the Empire taking damage to hull FIRST, then to shields. This is what happens to Jericho EVERY time. Of course they are disadvantaged.

It makes no difference to what you take damage first, your effective hitpoints remain the same.

Disagree, because we are all humans, and therefore it does make a difference for us, if we are already in the yellow bar, or still in the blue one, at least usually, in how we react. You’d also have to take Plasma damage vs. Kinetic damage into consideration, in how they affect their ideal target. After all the main reason for a plasma weapon is to kill the hull with secondaries, while keeping the shields down, and it’s regeneration.
I would love to see more options to go for either buffer or regeneration being also viable with shields.
But the question is, is it just hull vs. shields, or is it actually about Jericho vs. Empire? I would rather give Jericho ships a larger cartridge size, so they can e.g. carry 4 EM Torps, increasing their offensive capabilities with secondaries, and fix shield vs. hull with module tweaks, that affect feds (or even emp) too, or they will be the next jericho.
No idea why it copied black sorry for that, but this is from the storyline.
42nd ** CENTURY**
Again, the Empire turns its attention to the Sector of Bartle. Irritated that a sworn enemy resides nearby, the Emperor initiates a massive military campaign known as the Third War for Sector of Bartle.
The campaign brings no success: the Jericho have recovered after the fatal retreat five centuries ago. Their closed caste of scientists called Techs not tied by the limits of common morality, have managed to create stunning weapons. In direct confrontations, their ships are far superior to imperial ones and only the massiveness of the Empire’s fleet allows it to hold its positions.
I just want some interesting shield mechanic so I can wipe the Aura’s down from the sky with my Sword. Also, could we just give the +%eff special stuff to the mainline ships?
