You talk about a better ship tree, Kine, but aside from having the real-money ships glowing and being over-emphasised I can’t see any change at all. Pilots still have to grind 2-4 Long Range Frigates to get an Imperial Engineer.

well the sooner we get over the post shock trauma this patch the sooner we can get back to lobbying a ship tree fix no?

It does. The fact they didn’t rejig the whole thing is a huge disappointment. There was never going to be a better time to do it…

If players are stuck for weeks trying to level up one ship, what will that do to enjoyability?  I’ve heard people say they hate playing interceptors only because of their ping times.  The fighter and interceptor trees are intertwined so much that to upgrade to Katana S from level 1 a player will have to go through the interceptor line and synergize all of them.

I would like to point out that with the new ship tree and price reduction we are effectively enjoying a ~50% discount on Credit grind

Buying a R12 ship starting from R1 used to cost +40 million Credits. Now it is only 18 million or so.

 

The discount is MUCH more for secondary role ships where they have their own paths to progress on with only needing to buy much less ships in-between

TL;DR - ships are alot cheaper = less credit grind

 

Now Devs are making up for it by requiring compulsory 3-4 days play time per ship before being able to buy the next one.

 

That 3-4 days playtime : you still need to fly them regardless because that’s how you earn Credits. You just do it one ship at a time now instead of flying your money making T2 newbie-raping ship you use ALL the time

 

My question to you guys now:

- Why the hell would I want to rollback to the old system and have to spend 40 million credits when now it is only 18 million?

 

 

I am utterly phased to see players who spent 100’s of hours playing this game agreeing to opinions made by T1 newcomers who spent DLC $dollars 7 days ago thinking they understand the game more than you do because of entitlement. I am utterly phased.

 

  1. Ship tree is halfway fixed ← read that as being made better — The way we wanted it, no useless paths.

  2. Credit grind has been given a 50% discount (it says 25% but couple that with a better tech tree path it’s about 50% effectively)

  3. Trade-off for that now is that Dev is asking you to earn credits using newly bought ship instead of repetitively flying your money maker. That is a small price to pay.

 

  • Do yourselves justice and look at the actual numbers.

 

Just to clarify: I’m perfectly fine with the ship tree, but I’m not OK with the synergy levels needed to progress up the ship tree.

In 0.8.5 I think I was one of the few people who still played engy frigs regularly. In my team anyway, because the enemy always seems to have some.

Now I don’t care anymore. I just lol-dps the crap out of everything in my covert ops. Hello Mr. Guard-Frig, have some EM-missiles, double damage shrapnel and a plasma arc, why not. That’s a cute little epic pulsar you got there. Too bad it won’t do anything because you’re dead within seconds.

If I want to be super-xxxx, I add some adaptive camo in there, just so they won’t even have a chance of seeing it coming.

 

Until this is fixed, I will spam all the missiles. And bubbles of course. I wonder why fighter pilots bother with anything else. They murder everything. Especially the ships they’re supposed to be bad at killing: interceptors. Since those now have to move in very close with their melee-range-guns they have no chance of dodging. And this gets worse when more people use them. Most effective use is then to just randomly spam bubbles at beacons. Singularity cannon either needs speed reduced even more or much less range.

I like the idea of a frigball-buster weapon. It’s just that a weapon with about twice the DPS of anything else should not be this good at everything else.

Keep the T5/ PVE/ hangar from this patch. keep the custom lobby, new modules, etc. roll it back to 0.7.3 and you’ll have a great

Roll back synergy

  • Players with missing branches can’t get their ships at higher tiers
  • Too expensive to transfer synergy
  • Players who can’t afford to spend money are forced to play the weakest ships of the tier

Forces people who miss entire branches to grind T1 and T2.

More so I doubt any rookie will like facing opposite team consisting of players like me with 1400 rating.

That will kill the new flow of customers if not anything else.

 

If I want to transfer enough energy from syn lvl 8 to syn lvl 9 (330 000) That will cost 330 000 / 150 * 1 gs = 2200 GS. Just for 8>9.

 

 

Roll back missile system

  • It’s essentially a missile spam with unlimited missiles
  • Tactical choices drop when you only have one type of missiles — disincentive for me to take special missiles that are more situational (much better to just blow the enemy to bits, suicide and repeat)

I hated the new weapon system in the first few hours, but I gave it a go and except those “blue balls” that you do not know friendly or not and which to avoid from being 2 shotted as inti I like it better. Let’s give this new system a go and see.

 


 

And about the defenders of synergy and that it takes less credits ?

 

I will dumb down the math for you :

 

Example in my case : I do not own any frigate besides LRF on jericho Rank 6. Some day I would like to get a frigate.

 

Also I do not have the fed Cov Ops (Kite) And The Jericho one (Ricasso) is OK for me, but if I want T4 or 5 I like the Fed option more.

 

Etc, Etc …

 

Before I just needed to grind 12M from Swift to Kite. Now I not only need to grind 8 Mil (yeah, cheaper) but I also need to pwn Aces on tier 1 then switch to 2 then switch to 3 with r7 and 8 ships.

 

For some 13-16 yo it would not be a problem to to grind synergy whole day (6-8 hours a day) and get that branch in 2-3 weeks. But the people I play with and probably the general player base is 20-30. 

We have jobs and we need to pay you right ?  From the math up there it costs about 10 euro just for ONE synergy level. Basically about ~50 euro TO TRANSFER WHAT YOU ALREADY GRINDED ! PER SHIP THAT YOU WILL NOT USE !

 

I see serious flaw in this system.

Kine, perhaps people don’t want to spend 3-4 days piloting ships that they may not necessarily want to pilot. The ships were overpriced imho especially t4; even so, it would take me about a day, 2 days if I’m slacking, to grind the credits for my next ship - the best part is I had total freedom over what ships I got to fly. So, regardless of “numbers”, it is restrictive and it feels slower. 

 

If in the near future arises a distinct lack of specific roles, for example engineers; then it will more than likely be the new synergy’s fault, as people are too busy grinding synergy on their gunship to bring out their engineer, ECM, command etc.

As much as you make a good point, I know I personally would rather pay the extra credits, and get the ships I want sooner, grinding with the ships I like to play rather then paying a reduced cost,and then having to sped a lot more time grinding with ships I just want to get past. Though they tried to correct the ship tree so you would be able to progress more directly, the system is still requires heavy grind. If I want a Teir 3 Empire engineering frigate, I have to grind through two Long Ranged I would rather not play. For trees I have not explored, such as the Fed Engineer line, I would have to go back to Teir 1, (Which, in itself, gives me a loss of credits, as I could just be playing teir 3 games with my other ships for A LOT more credits), simply to buy the next ship. I would personally rather have the old costs then this synergy system…

Just to chime in again, I agree with Hyranic (and most others who have posted very recently). I really could care less about the discounted ships. Half the ships in the tree I have no intention of playing. I’ve logged over 200 hours in this game and I know what I like to play. Hell, I even like that they pushed out T5, very cool, but I don’t want to grind with ships that I need to learn to play with. I don’t like long range. I don’t like some interceptors or fighters. I don’t mind grinding for 2-3 days for a ship I really really want. I think we are really narrowing down what we really want here and I hope the devs are reading this. Not everything needs to be rolled back, but:

 

  1. Synergy to level has got to go

  2. Missile spam has got to go

  3. Give us more variety in weapons for ships (I like the idea of specific weapons by class of ship, but let’s have some generalized weapons all classes can use)

  4. Rethink this Singularity cannon. I know you hate frigballs, but this weapon is a little silly

 

If you re-evaluate these things, I will drop this whole money business I have been going on about, and will also continue to play and likely invest further money. Do it not, and I think you are going to see a mass Exodus in protest of these changes.

In my opinion they need to roll back so we can use weapons on any ship and they need to roll back the synergy because it’s damn annyoing to grind for hours just to buy a ship when already you can afford it.

i dont want a full rollback to happen, if they just patched reverting things like synergy instead of ranks, and only able to use certain wepoans on a class of ship, and the changes they made to all the old guns making them  CRAP (RF blasters  and plasma gun mainly) then i would sign on

no, i havent even seen anyone use RF blasters, but i did and they made them crap compared to what they used to be with adding all the spread and overheating

I think we are all wasting our time … they will not listen to us … I hope this game fails and never gets out of beta then maybe the devs will learn something

This attitude won’t help. We are already collecting the feedback and we will do improvements according to this.
