I’m disappointed because it seems they moved the EU servers. I used to get 20 ping, now I get 40/50 It doesn’t make much difference but I can’t boast anymore.
I have to vouch for it somehow. xD
All of those servers being within Russia is understandable; It’s a big area to cover.
But I think the population is mostly concentrated on the east Europe side of Russia.

Yesterday I was playing on EU and started getting that annoying 2-3% packet loss again. From time to time ping would go up to 400 for 1-2 seconds, and then go back to normal for another 5 seconds. And that cycle repeated over and over again.
Hawaii would be a nice area to have a server, since it’s a nice in-between for the west and the east. It may prove a useful area for a server that allows continents to fight each other with minimal ping.
It’d be especially a good area for the southern areas to connect to against the more northern counterparts and in-between. For instance, Japan, China, Korea, Australia, and new zealand, among other areas. Just look at that map! All of those against the general Americas. It’ll even likely connect well to Russia.
I see the logic of that, but then we’d need a sever hub in California to minimize the distance.
I’m unsure about how server hubs work, but I imagine it’s another jump point for the information to gain a boost to retain accuracy?
Would there need to be server hubs in each main continental area?
As you said, California for the US and beyond within the west… perhaps Japan for the more eastern counterparts?
Is there a server hub in California? Though, I believe location-wise, (not really in the sense of ‘is it a good idea to place this in such a dangerous place?’) wouldn’t it be better to have that hub in Mexico?
Perhaps another in Australia for the southern east, which would bring it to three hubs.
Then again, as for it being mexico or california, perhaps it’d be California for northern America and Peru for the southern?
I suppose I should just say this; Is it viable?

Hubs and servers are used interchangeably.
I prefer the terms as this-
imagine a railroad.
a server would be a station, and a server hub would be a refuel depot, with rest stops for passengers.
The servers are what run the games, the hub helps extend the reach of a server, hence enlarging the service area.
Anything that decreases my ping in south america would be great get a server/hub in Peru!!

Now I’m not an expert… but “enlarging the service area”? Everything connected to the internet has same reach/coverage. Its just that Multiple servers around world reduce the physical distance between the gameserver(which, in this case, is the aforementioned server. Not the main ones in Russia or wherever) and player which in turn reduces latency - the service area remains same always

Why exactly? I don’t understand this statement.

If they ever put a server in South America it would most likely be in Brazil since it’s the South American country with more people playing Star Conflict by far.
