Pick-up group disasters

I was playing with randoms this morning and got really frustrated with some of the things I saw. For example:

 

  1. Captain of one of the teams chooses interceptor and flies into the fray, dies within the first 60 seconds.

  2. Somebody picks up the bomb, flies back to their OWN base, or just flies around with no particular objective in mind.

  3. Enemy +10,000 meters away picks up the bomb and starts flying on the outskirts of the battle towards our beacon. I fly to intercept him before he makes it to our beacon. The rest of the players ignore him and focus on dogfighting - as if this is a team deathmatch.

 

 

This is like watching a game of football where the wide receiver catches the ball, and then tries to run around tackling other players instead of going for a home run. I understand that a lot of these players are still learning how to play. I myself just joined the game 2 days ago but seriously - it hasn’t taken me long to grasp the fundamentals of how to play.

 

Anyways, I started focusing on playing with other people on teamspeak and things just got waaaaaay better. :slight_smile:

This is a problem in every game ever.  It happens in WoW battlegrounds that are objective based and it happens in FPS games, anything.  People are always going to go for the immediate direct threat and ignore objectives at times.  I do it sometimes as well, but I at least go for a threat that is screwing my team over, like say a Jericho in the back or something.  It’s always nice to eliminate a threat on Regular mode :0

Oh yeah it’s annoying when you’re trying to carry your failteam by succesfully planting 2 bombs without ANY cover fire or ECM, while being shot at by 5 enemies and eating a torpedo, then turning back to foil an enemy plant attempt, grabbing the bomb and almost making it to the last station before losing because the OTHER ELEVEN PLAYERS failed to protect the ONE STATION we have left.

That second one, there’s occasionally a bug that doesn’t indicate whether you’ve got the emp bomb. The Indicator just doesn’t show. The other things are… well, online games.

I think I saw this map once…I wanted to do that just to see what would happen. I was  going to make a PTFO thread, thanks for doing it for me.

 

It also seems like this needs to be said for the scenario. It feels like if we get past the first part, people do not go for the nav beacons in the second.

Last time I did this with my corp we were like “clear the enemies and then move in” … it took us a good while to realize that they spawned infinitely.

 

On another note: OPPOSITE of a disaster. My squadmate ECM jammed an enemy while they were dogfighting near the sun, and that enemy was unable to steer his ship…he flew directly into the sun. :slight_smile:

I’m hoping I see this map tonight…what mode will I find it in ARCADE, or NORMAL?
