Performance: Linux vs Windows

First of all: thanx for native Linux client of this great game. Game runs fine, on my machine i haven’t any bug except… performance. The same config on Windows 7 gives me between 70-90 FPS with max settings, when on Linux I have only 25-40 with medium/high, when in battle. Specs below:
Phenom 2 @3,1Ghz
Nvidia GTX460SE w. 1Gb
4Gb of RAM
OS: Linux Mint 17 64bit / Window 7 64bit

Is the reason difference between OpenGL and DX (and are there any chances to boost Linux performance), or something is wrong with my system?

which nvidia drivers u use? nvidia or noveau?

(glxinfo or lspci -k | grep -A 2 -i “VGA” in a terminal)

OpenGL is not slower than DX, but there can be myriads of issues while porting; Let’s just hope you have the wrong driver

Let`s abandon all hope  - after install, in “additional drivers” I turn on “nvidia-331-updates […] NVIDIA binary driver - version 331.38”.

lspci -k | grep -A 2 -i “VGA” returns:

‘VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF104 [GeForce GTX 460 SE] (rev a1)
Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. [MSI] Device 2325
    Kernel driver in use: nvidia’

…so, I guess I`m using proprietary driver.

Dude my FPS is 10-20… I use a stock computer and I play just fine.

hm, nvidia is the right driver :frowning: bad luck.

i haven’t actually run linux on my gaming pc yet, i just saw how it ran on an intel notebook, and my main would have a much stronger card.

however your card does really 90 fps still in windows? is that a recent test?

Ok it seems to be a general problem. I have also a nvidia card and low frames too.

I thought it was a problem with my linux configuration but now I’m not sure about it. Maybe it is a problem in Star Conflict cause there are other LInux user having this problem even with ATI cards: [http://forum.star-conflict.com/index.php?/topic/23362-15-28fps-max-fglrx-146-2xasus-radeon-270/](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/23362-15-28fps-max-fglrx-146-2xasus-radeon-270/)

Here is my post: [http://forum.star-conflict.com/index.php?/topic/23098-low-frames-with-mobile-nvidia-card/](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/23098-low-frames-with-mobile-nvidia-card/)

Are there any LInux user which have more than 40fps?

Maybe the developer can have a look as the problems.

As I wrote: 70-90 FPS, i’ve played SC on Windows 7 about two weeks ago, so it’s quite recent test. Let’s say I had average 60-70fps but even this is twice better than on Linux

And - on my Mint machine - FPS can jump to about 50 especially in space with less “space debris” :). But average frame rate I have near 30, and I notice some kind of stuttering. Game is definitely playable, but not as comfortable as on Windows system :frowning:

I’m not a programmer, but I think it needs some optimisation on Linux…

In hangar frame rate is 35 and below - annoying, but ok, so be it - we don’t fight in hangars
