This is pertaining to synergy and its path to your next ship as it is in 0.9.
We level the synergy to the maximum on one ship. The next ship we just unlocked sure is quite a gimp compared to it. I don’t know if it’s like that with all ships. I did it with T2 Jericho Interceptors, T2 & T3 Jericho fighters and T1 and T2 Federation frigates. Using the next ship with 1/x synergy has become something to dread. Is it worth it to make a T3 Katana as good as the previous T2 Machete S (elite ship) is? It hasn’t been. The best way I can describe it is: bleak and miserable.
I accumulated an abundance of synergy while using the elite T2 Jericho Interceptor and Fighter. I used the free synergy which isn’t free on the T3 Katana fighter to level it 4 times. It still stunk compared to the elite T2 Machete S. That’s just one example to explain the experience with all three lines of ships I have leveled through T1, T2 and one ship in T3. This was a special case because of all the synergy I put in the Katana from the start hoping it wouldn’t suck.
I won’t be doing it like this anymore. I’m not buying synergy to ungimp a ship that was supposed to be a progression.
Yeah, I am going through this right now as I get started on Tier 3. I got my first rank 7 ship to elite, then moved on to the next victim, same class, same role. First match? next to useless. Utter bollocks.
But it has to be done. Even slogging your way through to first few upgrades is better than trying to grind out free synergy with no premium ships.

To cut down on time spent feeling like crap for every tier, buy three or four ships that you’ll use in that tier before ever playing them. Use free synergy to get them to level 2 or higher. Save credits to make all the equipment at least green. And then start to play. The meta will be different and you won’t have as much experience as the people you’re facing, but at least you won’t feel as bad as you would with a clean start in a new tier.

Also necroposting is bad.
Well, the issue is still of actuality, that necro is still worth it :P. Another way to raise synergy a few levels is to do invasion missions with that new ship; some missions are easy enough to do, others can be done with some hit and run. But it’s always a good thing to get some module upgrades before trying that.
