The title above it for a jerico contact mission I have no idea what to do all the mission description says is complete 1 daily mission in open space, anyone have any idea what the contact wants ? I have been out in open space several times and numberous ships and nothing no completion ???
Everyone have 1 gold mission per faction a day and some blue missions.
You just have to complete 1 gold mission and that’s it. you have to do this for 30 days to get the “openspace secret ship pursuit” achievement
I’m still need t getting it. Do the gold and blue missions come from contacts? Or do I have to get to open space and then find the mission?
I have seen a lot of people asking this question in the last couple days, and it’s a bit baffling how much confusion there is over the interface. I partly blame it on people not even trying to figure out what they are looking at, and partly on the game doing a bad job explaining things and confusing you with inconsistent terms in the translation(s).
You get an open space mission called “Assignment” with a gold exclamation mark as a symbol on the map every day on every station. This is what you need to fulfill. You can find them on the Invasion (aka. Open Space, aka. Attacked Sectors) map. The sector you have to do the mission in has the aforementioned golden exclamation mark above it, which is clickable and will show you a description of the mission.
The mission description also pops up on the right of the hangar screen under your Contacts (not Cont r acts, thats something different), where you have to accept them before you can do it and where you’ll have to claim the reward later. It might be buried under other missions like the Forward Fleet Assigments, so don’t overlook the arrow-up and arrow-down buttons.

I’m as lost as the OP, some step by step help would be great.
same problem, mission is stuck on the side of the screen. tried to go in to open space. no clue what to do(
You first need to accept the mission from your hanger. It comes from one of the Avatars on the right hand side of the screen. This will activate the mission and the golden ! will appear on the star chart. Head to that sector and complete the mission. Thankfully now the mission objective is highlighted when you get to that sector, so you don’t have to fly around for 10 mins until you find what you need. For the protect the transport missions you will need to wait for the transport to warp in if it is not there already, just fly around a bit and you will see it.

Need to mention one important thing. If you are new to the game and have not complete any open space missions yet, you will have to complete several (may be 5 or so) very easy missions in open space before you get the mission which will be counted as a real open space mission for miss Summer.
And this is some kind of a joke, but i have written step by step description of what to do)

2nd step - Read the mission objective. It will tell you where to go and what to do.
3rd step - Accept the mission if not accepted yet. (For advanced users - open the map and check the route)
4th step - Fly out into open space.
5th step - Watch for yellow exclamation mark around.
6th step - Head to that mark.
7th step - If there is no object under the mark and mark is near warp-gates, go to step 10. If there is some object, go to next step.
8th step - If object does not move, take/activate the object, look for other objects with the same exclamation mark on them, go to them if any, return to base if no, open the mission, press “Complete”. If object is moving go to step 9.
9th step - Check if object shoots you or not. If it shoots - kill it, if not - escort Return to base after killed/escorted, open the mission, press “Complete”. End.
10th step - Go into warp gates and press “C” by default - this will warp you into next sector.
11th step - Watch for yellow exclamation mark once again.
12th step - Recollect mission objectives (kill/take/activate/escort). If have already forgotten, read it on the right side of the screen.
13th step - Go to the object with mark, continue from step 7.
